Payment card security

Having just experienced a fraud attempt using my card details on another site, I have now had to change my card, I'm sure eBay is perfectly safe, however my question is, is there any problem with deleting my card details after each purchase once payment has gone through and then re applying details only when making a purchase, so the card details aren't sitting there if anybody should gain access to my ebay account.

Not having a valid payment method linked to your eBay account might limit the amount you can bid or buy when you decide you want to make a purchase, but I do not know for certain.

I don't have a credit card stored. I normally use PayPal to pay, and those details aren't stored on ebay either.

However, when making an offer as a buyer, I often need to enter payment details then (PayPal, not stored). And sellers can block buyers without a payment method from bidding - I don't remember that ever happening to me though.

It's possible that repeatedly entering and then deleting card details might look strange to ebay (or even your card provider if ebay verify it each time). Does ebay give you an option to pay with a card but not store it?

To answer my own question. It seems you don't have to save the card details, so don't have to delete them each time. See screenshot from a laptop/web browser.

Hi, your answering your own question must have triggered me and got me thinking to how I paid on eBay before creating an account, "buy as guest" and that to has answered my question as well, thanks.
