We wouldn't normally ask for ID to just log into your account, are you selling on eBay by any chance? If so, then that's probably why, as all sellers have to verify their account at some stage. If this is the case, you could also provide a birth certificate with a utility bill with your current address on it, and that would also help you verify your selling account.
