I have upgraded to a business account but Im still getting a 'URGENT ACTION NEEDED' message

I have been told by ebay to upgrade to a business account due to my recent sales volume which I have done.

I have completed the upgrade and my listings now state I am a business seller but I'm still receiving the following message stating:

Urgent action needed ⚠️Urgent action needed ⚠️

Our records show that you need to upgrade to a business account. Upgrade before 04/09/24 to avoid selling restrictions & access a bespoke benefits package.

Why wont it go away?

Falsely registering?

Having a business account on eBay doesn't mean you then have registered as a business (as in with companies house). Business account is just an account title to include those who are buying to sell for profit, sole traders, resellers, full blown businsesses with shops and websites, side hustlers, scalpers, etc.

So if you are buying in any form to sell for profit then yes, you should be on a business account.

If it's a mistake and you are just selling off unwanted items you've owned for years as you want to have a clear out, then there's eBay's appeals process for it or contact customer support.

Re: I have upgraded to a business account but Im still getting a 'URGENT ACTION NEEDED' message

"I can only conclude that they are doing it to get higher fees out of me"

Business decisions within eBay aren't aimed at 1 person's selling activities.

They certainly lost out on fees when they did free to sell clothing for private accounts, with not just listings done after that date, but listings that already existed. The many sellers with 1000's of new clothing items listed were rubbing their hands.

So the reality is, something has likely happened behind the scenes where eBay really feel the need to act now. Anyone trading as a business on a private account has spoiled it for everyone else and have possibly done away with the ability to have 1 account for business, 1 for private selling. So in future if people running a business account want to sell privately owned items, they'll have to lump it on the business account with full fees.

So I feel the finger shouldn't be pointed at eBay but those who have totally abused the system by business selling on private accounts (and there's lots of them)

As others have previously stated, there is no appeals process, despite Ebay referencing it, the link takes you to basic customer support page, who claim they have no control over the process.  So as I said, dead end.  I'm not a business, just selling my personal possessions, I've spent more on here than sold.  Thanks for regurgitating what has already been said though.

Re: I have upgraded to a business account but Im still getting a 'URGENT ACTION NEEDED' message

Dont be so rude. YOU asked, and to quote....

"What are the potential repercussions of me falsely registering as a business just to remove restrictions"

The exact wording "falsely registering as a business" would imply your belief is by registering for an eBay business account means you've registered as a business when that isn't the case.

By having a business account on eBay, you haven't registered as a business at all. It's just the title of an account. It has about as much to do as being a registered business as if the account names were "donkey Kong", "personal 2", "Disney sellers club 5".

To answer what YOU asked just now, old ground has to be mentioned as it's all relevant.

What are the repercussions? You pay eBay's business seller fee tier, your address is on your listings and you have to accept returns, all to comply with the law as a business/for profit seller. That still doesn't mean you are a registered business though.

If you don't want people "regurgitating what has already been said" then don't ask questions that the only way to answer them is to include a few things that have already been said.

@alfreda-0

On another thread it has been said the appeals process can only be accessed once restrictions are in place.

Re: I have upgraded to a business account but Im still getting a 'URGENT ACTION NEEDED' message

Please can you tell me, in clear step-by-step bullet points, how to access
the supposed dedicated appeals process. Because I cannot find it, and I
suspect it does not exist. The only link leads to the regular customer
service chat bot/phone line - which has been predictably utterly useless.

Re: I have upgraded to a business account but Im still getting a 'URGENT ACTION NEEDED' message

Yet you're the one being ratio'd in the likes my guy.  You came in here acting rude when nobody else previously had been, made me out to be a fool, while not actually answering my question and repeating statements that people have already confirmed as incorrect.

Now in your even more obnoxious reply you actually did manage to fully answer my question, so thanks for that.

If you want a kinder response to your answers in future try having a better attitude in the first place, give and you shall receive.
