eBay changing my start prices without my knowledge

I created four listings last week and saved them with a view to them going live yesterday. When I listed them to go live, I found eBay had changed the starting price of my stuff that is worth hundreds of £'s to 99p. Thankfully, I managed to change them all back again before I had any bids, but what the hell is going on here?

Off topic but:

1. Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For is for items valued at up to £50.  If one of your items is lost or damaged in transit, you'll be lucky to get a book of stamps in compensation, but you'll have to refund the buyer in full.  You need to use Special Delivery Next Day Guaranteed for anything valued at over £50.

2. Using inappropriate postal services makes your items an even bigger scammer magnet than they already are, as it marks you out as inexperienced and so an easy target.

3. LV, like many top brands, does not like their items to be listed on Ebay.  There's so much counterfeiting going on, and that drags their name down into the mire.  So be prepared for LV to instruct Ebay to remove your listings.
