can sellers be held responsible for chocolate that arrives melted due to the very warm weather

I sell chocolate on ebay and due to the very warm weather UK mainland was having some of my orders have arrived melted.

The buyer has sent photos of the opened bars which are are now deformed due to the bars being melted because of the hot weather.

Can anyone help me please?

A buyer can use eBay's money back guarantee to claim a refund if their item doesn't match the description. I'm sure the chocolates were not described as melted!

 

What counts is the condition in which it arrived, not the condition in which it was sent.

 

Yes, sellers are responsible for ensuring that their customers' orders arrive in good condition. During hot weather, you should use specialist packaging which keeps the items cool. Do a web search for information.

It is unfortunate, but if buyer opens item not as described case, ebay will allow it.

This is 1 of risks of sending chocolate through the post.
