I Set up Ebay Managed Payment, Why have ebay set up a Direct Debit?

So yesterday, I made my account a managed payments account, so i go through ebay and not paypal.

When i did that and put my bank details to withdraw my funds, i got an email from ebay about a direct debit, and i wasnt sure why they would need one.

I have money processing from a sale, so it might be that but im not sure. 

I dont want ebay taking money from my account without my knowledge.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ebay sets up DD so they can recover any refunds from your bank they may have to do if buyers open case.
