Why is there an Ebay followed by letters & numbers on address labels now?
My concern is that I would not want to post anything that has such an obvious advert saying that it is an ebay item, just my 2 pennorth
It's yet another one of eBay's daft ideas, basically. The best option is to avoid printing off eBay's address labels and just write the name and address onto the package by hand that was provided on the PayPal confirmation of payment e-mail. Alternatively if you have the means to do so then put a sheet of labels into your printer, type up the buyer's address details that appear on the e-mail that PayPal sent you, then stick that label onto the package. As soon as you've addressed the package properly you can then post it out.
Once you've taken the parcel up to the Post Office and it's been posted then when you return home just upload the tracking number next to the item in question and it'll be clear both to the buyer and to eBay that the item has been despatched. At present eBay haven't made it compulsory to only use address labels generated via their website, so it's not like you've got to use eBay's address labels. Printing off an address label with some random code halfway down the address just looks plain daft to say the least.
Until eBay can get their act together and sort out the programming so that the label automatically prints off with the address displaying correctly and the eBay code showing up somewhere on the label where it won't look as though it's been included as part of the address, I'd advise anybody experiencing the same problem to avoid using eBay address labels completely and find an alternative way around the problem, whether that be setting up and printing off your own address labels or just addressing the package by hand.
