Hi,
I'm a new seller trying to cancel a listing. It ended a few days ago and the buyer initiated the payment via paypal (which said echeque).
Since then the payment is stuck pending because I'm new to selling and the buyer has also realised the delivery address is wrong in paypal so we've agreed to cancel.
I've got no option to cancel in paypal (and resolution centre says to speak to the seller as i've ''received'' the funds despite it pending) and trying to cancel on ebay and it just says I can't yet with it showing payment initiated/buyer hasn't paid yet.
Any help would be massively appreciated!
You don't cancel transactions in PayPal - you must always cancel them in Ebay. Tell the buyer to log into his PayPal account, and cancel the e-cheque payment. Once that's done, you should be able to cancel the Ebay transaction (from the dropdown beside it on your SOLD page). Choose 'buyer' requested' from the list of cancellation reasons.
Can you actually see the payment in paypal, even if it is pending. If not, it sounds like you have got your paypal address wrong in your listing. That message from ebay would imply this. Scroll down to see what you put in the paypal payment box.
You could ask the buyer if they have a cancel button at their end. They might do. If so they should cancel.
Usually If it is wrong, but is a valid email for you, you need to add that email to your paypal account. The money will then come through.
If you can see the payment but paypal has it on the 21 day hold you would need to phone paypal to ask them to cancel it.
The echeque is a separate matter but does complicate things. If you initiate a refund paypal will not activate it until the buyer's funds have cleared into paypal. That will be 10 days after the payment was initiated. The same will probably be true if the buyer cancels the payment.
