Seller wants a refund - please read and help

I recently sold an hifi on eBay, this was collection only item and I asked for cash on collection.

The hifi was in perfect working order. The guy collected it and I asked him if he would like to see it, he replied no I trust you, and handed over the cash.

1 day later I receive a email saying the CD drive has a major fault and doesn't read CDs, I replied as far as I was aware it worked but I would not be able to accept it back as he had taken it away.

Lots of emails back and forward and I was threatend with legal action if I didn't refund. I agreed the unit was sent back to me and upon testing the cd player is works. By this time my perfectly working hifi has been in the buyers hands for 1 day and in the courier system for 1 day, thrown around like god knows what.

Any help please?

But it's working OK so has survived the transit.   As you have it back all you can do now is refund the buyer's money.
