Scalping issues. Law changes being discussed

There is a very large problem with scalpers using modern technology to purchase all of the stock and then list on this website at a higher price. It is even being discussed in parliament (as I'm sure eBay are aware) regarding the laws surrounding this.

eBay need to put measures in place to protect people from scalpers despicably preying on the desperate and acting as gatekeepers standing in the way of people buying limited stock products (due to current and unavoidable events) at the proper price.

The biggest and most current example that's now sparked the law debates is of course: the PlayStation 5.

eBay need to acknowledge this publicly and put measures in place to deter/prevent people from scalping, and if they could do this sooner rather than later they could really become heroes to the public who just want to buy something they seek at a fair price without some douche stepping in front of them in a queue to buy everything and then turning round and demanding they pay him more to get the product from him instead, or go without.

If not they may just be forced to by law anyway, and be left with a more negative image, that they did not give a toss about their consumers being ripped off as long as they receive their cut, which let's be honest, is not a good look and could seriously damage them as a company.

So essentially, do eBay want to be pandemic heroes to people who just want to play their way through until it's over, or be associated by complacency with scalping villains?

it would be a lot simpler for the manufacturers to make enough and ensure people didn't buy more than one at a time!
