Refund given how to unmark as payment received.

Hoping for some advice please. I recently sold an item for collection only and advised cash on collection preferred. It was a large volume of heavy items and I would not send by courier . The buyer paid via paypal which I was able to refund with their permission, so long as I agreed to keep the items pending their collection which they advied would be over the Christmas holidays. The payment has now been refunded via an e-check debited from my bank. I have tried to unmark as payment received but the payment symbol still says paid however there is a £200 adjustment on the sold item and paypal indicate refunded. Is that how it works?

Also if the buyer does not collect how do I cancel the transaction? I guess I should have specified collection within a specified period of time however as I have agreed to this now and as I am good for my word this will stand from my end but what happens if they decide not to collect? Sorry for all the questions and appreciate assistance. Thank you all.

"however there is a £200 adjustment on the sold item and paypal indicate refunded."

No idea what you mean.

You are going to find this an expensive transaction now, ebay fees will still be charged and Paypal fees are not refundable and a defect.

There are proper ways to refund, and while cash is the best way of being paid, you should have stuck with it, as there is now a good chance you will not be paid, and if the buyer chose to open a not received case, you could be made to refund again.

as you were paid you cannot make it as not paid or such like.

If you did not refund properly you will have to pay fees and gained a defect.

Once an item is paid for it cannot revert to not paid.
