Most of the items I am selling are listed with the "Make Offer" or "Best Offer" function. Where this is the case, I usually set it up to automatically decline offers below a certain amount and automatically accept offers over a certain amount. Today I have received two genuine messages/emails making offers for two different items. One should have been automatically declined and the other should have been automatically accepted. I have checked the two listings and they were both correctly set up to decline and accept offers. What is going on?
It may well be down to yet another eBay glitch. If you still wish to accept the offer that should have triggered the Automatically Accept option to end the listing and request that the buyer make payment for the item then you may still be able to secure the sale if you implement the following workaround option to the problem.
First of all if you have not already done so contact the buyer who made you the offer that you felt was worth accepting and explain that something would appear to have gone wrong with the function to accept decent Best Offers. Ask the buyer whether he/she would still like to purchase the item at that price. If the buyer says "Yes" then send a reply stating that you will edit the listing and adjust the Buy It Now price so that it is identical to the same price that he/she offered you. Once you have done that e-mail the buyer with a quick update to confirm that the Buy It Now price has been adjusted to reflect the price that he/she offered you. Hopefully the buyer will then commit to purchasing the item using the Buy It Now function and you will still be able to secure the sale.
