I'm a new seller - sent the item but it still says awaiting payment

hi this might be a really stupid and obvious question, sorry to ask. I just sold my first item and it said awaiting payment from buyer but I sent it anyway (for some reason I thought ebay just takes some time with new sellers before it puts the money into my account).

however the buyer says she has sent the money but it still says its pending, but nothing is showing up on my paypal. I sent it recorded so it will register on ebay when it has been delivered, so I'm hoping the money will be released then, but I'm not sure. How will I know when other items have been paid for?

Sorry to ask! thanks in advance 🙂

PayPal's 21-day payment hold is applied to all new and infrequent sellers. It's a security measure. You can read all about it in Ebay's Seller Centre (link at foot of any page), along with everything else you need to know about selling here.

However, the pending payment will still be shown in your PayPal account. Log in to your PayPal account to see. If it isn't there, which is what you appear to be saying, you must have put the wrong PayPal email address in the listing, or it's the correct one but contains a typo. Either way, the buyer's payment will be floating around in the ether with nowhere to go. Have a look at the sold listing details in 'copy' mode, to see what PayPal email addy is there. If it's wrong, come back for details on what to do.

All new or occasional sellers are subject to up to 21 days hold on payments, for the protection of the buyer, and this will continue until you have built up a good selling record with good feedback and no problems. The payment should show in Paypal as pending, you may be able to get it released after 7 days if you have tracking showing delivery, and the buyer has not reported any problem.
