I have been trying to list items on ebay, is the site permanently down?, can I contact anyone, just get message, they are having problems...for 6 weeks?

No, the site isn't and hasn't been down. And you don't need to contact Ebay for anything - all the information you could possibly need is right here on the site.

Everything you need to know about selling on Ebay is in the Seller Centre.  It includes a section specifically aimed at new sellers too.  So do some reading so that you know how Ebay works and what you need to do. The link is at the foot of any page. You also have the Help pages with their integral search to refer to (links at top and foot of any page).

I have been on the site, for 2 hours this morning. The end product, I needed to change my phone number, on Ebay, but the only confirmation available is on my old number which I do not have. I have done the so called Help pages, the bots and everything in between. Your reply is NOT helpfull, about the same as EBay as a whole. Endemic.

Sounds as though you have not set up your account to sell. It is not just as easy as Buying, you need other information such as an arrangement to pay selling fees.
