I cancelled a bid by mistake how do I contact bidder

I misread the request and cancelled the wrong item.  How can I contact the bidder whose bid I deleted.

If you received any messages from the buyer whose bid you erroneously cancelled prior to deleting the bid then look back at those messages to find out what the buyer's User ID was.  Reply to the message and explain what has gone wrong, apologising for the mistake, and ask him/her to place the bid again.  If you can get through to the buyer that way then so long as he/she hasn't changed his/her mind about buying the item as a result of having his/her bid cancelled then you may find that the buyer will place a bid to replace the one that got cancelled.

In the event that you cannot find an e-mail from the buyer in question then don't despair - you may still end up with another bid from this buyer.  There have been cases in the past where sellers have cancelled unwanted bids but have not added the buyer's User ID to their Blocked Bidders List and have subsequently found that the buyer who placed the cancelled bid decided to submit another bid at a later point during the auction, so if you can't find any means of contacting the buyer then you will just have to hope that he/she decides to submit another bid at a later point during the auction to replace the one that has been cancelled.

Many thanks for your help. I have the buyer's ID but don't know how to contact him. Is there somewhere I can put this ID in to contact him?

If you click on the Discussion Boards option in the eBay Community then when the next page loads up look at the two boxes along the top of the screen. The first one is the box that lights up to tell you if anybody has marked one of your posts as helpful or has mentioned you in a thread, whereas the second one is the option to send a Private Message. Click on the second option. A new page should load up - click on "Compose Message" and when the next page appears type the buyer's User ID into the "Send To" box. If his/her User ID comes up then compose a message to the buyer and once you are done send the message via Private Messages in the eBay Community. When the buyer next logs into the eBay Community the box indicating that a Private Message has been received will be lit up in blue with a 1 in it (or more, if the buyer has more than one private message) and if he/she decides to check out your message then he/she can read the message that you have sent to him/her regarding the erroneous cancellation of the bid. If the buyer does receive the message and is still interested in the item then he/she may decide to place another bid.

Many thanks, I have tried this but I guess his ID was not in full maybe Ebay protects this. Ah well no more I can do but I appreciate your time. At one time you could just put the ID in a box and it went straight to them. Again my thanks.

All you need to do is look at the item where you cancelled a bid. Click on number of bids even if it is 0, that gives the bid history, Scroll down the page to see te cancelled bid and bidders ID.

Once you see the ID click on ID to use the CONTACT  link on the Bidders Profile.

I can't see any cancelled bids on your current listings, BUT do you think Second Class Post suitable for items up to £20 is appropriate for a Gold Ring. YOU MUST use Special Delivery.
