Hi, is it safe to ship to Algeria?

I have a buyer asking if I will ship to Algeria, but I am not sure if it is safe enough to do it... what do you think?

Given the current state we're in with regards to coronavirus, and with airports being affected by the restrictions on flights in and out of the country, I would advise against it.  It's bad enough having to deal with an Item Not Received case from a national buyer, so why risk complicating matters by posting an item to an overseas destination, which at this time of year and with the current restrictions on flights to and from the UK, could well end up resulting in an Item Not Received claim owing to the inevitable delays in the item reaching its destination?  Personally I would advise against offering items for sale internationally until things have improved to some degree and flights in and out of the country are not being as badly affected as they are at present.

Up to you! Who can say if safe, out of the whole of Africa I will only post to South Africa.

In my opinion you are using the Wrong Shipping for the UK, for the value ECONOMY using Packlink/Hermes  could prove a very expensive mistake. If shipping to Algeria you would need at least Royal Mail Tracked/Signed For.

You do need to read the T & C before using any Courier to find out what happens if Lost or Damaged. What is certain whether they pay any compensation, is that you have to refund the buyer.

Not to South Africa. Any Country I sell to, any problems with buyers and I add the Country to my Blocked List. It is a matter of Trial and Error and learn by mistakes. But then I rarely have expensive items, and there are now 4 different price zones for Worldwide, so tend to only quote postage for the UK in some cases and leave it for any potential Overseas Buyers to ask for a price.

As in what chance is there of my package disappearing, not being delivered, me being scammed etc.

With regards to the question as to the chances of the package disappearing/not being delivered I would say there's a very high chance of that at the moment, given the current delays in post being delivered and the restrictions that have recently been imposed on flights from the UK to overseas destinations owing to the coronavirus. As for the risk of being scammed I would say that there is a good chance that you could end up getting scammed, as all the buyer would need to do would be to open an Item Not As Described case, even if the item had reached the buyer undamaged and was exactly as described in the ad, and eBay would automatically decide the case in the scammer's favour. Therefore, if I were still selling on eBay my instincts would be to hold off of selling to international buyers for the time being. I certainly wouldn't sell a mobile phone on eBay, as that's just like asking to get scammed.
