Hermes delivered, tracking shows signed for. Six days later, buyer claims Hermes note states "left in bin" and he can't find it!

How do I report my suspicions to ebay?

What suspicions?  Items left in and around property and the usual ' safe ' place is a bin ,  so unfortunatelty it is wide open for thieves as many will know more and more on line shopping is of course being done now,  so rich pickings for thieves.

If you have tracking which shows delivery,  just inform the buyer of this,  advise them to contact the Police,  even if the item was not valuable,  there may be a spate of thieving going on in their area,  and good for the Police to have this on report.

If they do wish to open a case for item not received,  entering that valid tracking number will close it in your favour,  no need to refund.

As a tip ,  always enter that number or the 16 digit number from your proof of posting , straight after marking an item as dispatched,  that way , if a case is opened,  and tracking shows delivery,  it will automatically close the case in your favour in 24 hours.

Thank you. I'd thought that eBay would automatically find in buyer's favour as 'Item not received'. The fact that buyer only informed me six days after notified delivery raised my suspicions. Six days! I can hardly wait to open all my online purchases 😉

They may have forgotten they ordered the item, especially if they are ordering over the usual number due to online shopping being most people's only avenue of shopping, they just may have lost count of exactly what and when items were ordered. So truly, not suspicious that someone notifies you 6 days after delivery.

Here's another thought! If the item was put in a bin outside, and the buyer only remembered the purchase 6 days later, then not a thief, but more of a possibility that the bin men have taken and emptied that bin !

Your tracking showing delivery will win you any case opened by the buyer.
