Harassing messages from buyer but he won't put in formal return request

Hi,

I sold a Louis Vuitton bracelet on 2nd August for £170 and as far as I was aware, it is a genuine product. Two weeks after purchasing, the buyer asked me to prove its genuinity. In the listing I had explained I do not have the receipt etc as it was a gift a few years ago. The buyer is now claiming that it is a replica but I am not sure where he is getting information from and he does not answer me on this when I have asked. I am sceptical about this as it does match to the one advertised on the Louis Vuitton official website too.

Anyway, I immediately offered a partial refund of £50 as a goodwill gesture and so that the buyer could keep the item. I have received harassing messages multiple times a day from the buyer trying to negotiate a partial refund beyond the £50 which I am prepared to give. I have had to explain numerous times that this is my limit, or he is welcome to receive a full refund and return the item. He has not done a formal return request via the Resolution Center even though I have said my hands are tied until then but he keeps threatening negative feedback on my profile. He is also now claiming that the bracelet clasp is faulty, even though I tested it before I shipped and it definitely works fine.

I am also concerned by negative feedback on his page from other sellers saying that he is a "crook" and that he previously requested a refund but did not return the item to the seller.

I have reported the buyer on all of these points.

I just wanted to check please that there is nothing else I need to do for now and that he has to be the one to formally request a return? Also what would happen if he did not return the item like he has done previously, is it Tracked etc?

why did you offer a partial refund? that is never a good idea as it makes you look guilty of the crime you are accused of

tell him he needs to open a case and stop communicating with him until he does

if he leaves negative feedback contact CS and show them the messages threatening you with negative feedback and they should remove it

Don't let the buyer bully you any further.  Reply to him one last time, stating that if he wants a refund you will be issuing a full refund only, on the condition that you receive the bracelet back in exactly the same condition that you sent it.  If the buyer does open a case then issue a returns label and reiterate what you said about returning the item for a full refund.  It may well be that the buyer has no intention of returning the bracelet anyway and is just making up silly reasons as to why a partial refund is justified because he wants to try to get a further discount on the price that he paid for it.

In the event that the buyer does not return the item to you then you will not have to issue a refund.  The returns label has a tracking number on it, so if the buyer doesn't use it to return the item eBay will be able to see that the label was never used.  Therefore, stick firmly to the line of "No return, no refund" - if the buyer really wants his money back that desperately then he ought to return the bracelet to you using the prepaid returns label.  If he does then issue the buyer with a total refund via eBay so as to avoid picking up a defect on your account.

Finally, if the buyer leaves you negative feedback then do as has already been advised and contact eBay Customer Services to request the removal of the negative feedback.  Make sure that you specifically point out to eBay the buyer's messages threatening you with negative feedback, as if you do that then you should be able to get the feedback removed on the grounds of feedback extortion.  If you have not already done so add the buyer's User ID to your Blocked Bidders List so that he cannot purchase anything else from you in the future and cause you any further aggravation.
