Buyer wants to retract bid

A buyer has bid on an item, but now contacted me to ask whether he can retract the bid as he didn't read the full description. The item isn't what he wants. I don't have an objection to the bid retraction. 

Should I cancel the bid for him?  Or does he retract his bid?

I would just do it.   Better than ending up with a non-payer.
