Buyer to see a bike before buying?

I have a bike up for sale, collection only. The buyer is local and would like to come see it. I've emailed him my address and phone number on Ebay email - but it doesn't seem to be getting through. Surely I've not got to ask him to buy it so that he can come look at it? Then cancel the sale if it's no good for him?

Can anyone help?

Yes that is what eBay expects to happen.

eBay sees the exchange of contact details before the buyer has committed to buy, as the start of a possible off-eBay deal which is against eBay policy as it deprives eBay of their FV fees.

The buyer commits to buy by going through eBay checkout, but does not pay.

After the buyer has committed to buy the parties are then free to exchange contact details.

The buyer visits you and If the buyer is happy they pay cash.

If after inspection the item is not what the buyer expects then both parties agree a cancellation.

Exchanging contact details before the buyer has committed to buy can lead to the both buyer’s and seller’s accounts being suspended.

You are likely to get your account permanently banned...you are not allowed to send address details.....

the buyer has to agree to buy( but not pay) before address details be given

buyer comes and inspects and if ok hands over the cash before taking the bike away

if not suitable, you both have to agree to cancel.

you cannot exchange details before purchase and if eBay bots have pick up your message you could be heading fore trouble.

Purchase then come, examine and then pay.
