Had a single bed for sale and had enquiry wanted to know length of bed and whether I had a buy it now price,.Gave details and explained , as I had quite a few watching I was letting auction continue.,.but if it didn't sell I would be relisting as buy it now as I am moving house and do not have room. They did not reply or make an offer.
The bed did sell but the buyer could not collect as arranged due to some personal bad news and as he had not yet paid I agreed to cancel the sale .
I relisted the bed as buy it now and it sold and the buyer paid straight away.
I was contacted by buyer asking me to have bed dismantled ready for collection and requesting my mobile number to arrange collection. They also asked for a couple of measurements...length of bed and height of mattress from floor.
It turns out they are same person who requested details before so I gave same details and told them I had sent this before.
I have now had email saying bed is too long and they want to cancel ! !!
Do I have to issue refund.... advice please !!
My advice, Sandra, is to forget all about listing collection items on Ebay. It simply isn't viable. You can't stop buyers paying with PayPal (which is totally unsafe for sellers of collection items), and PayPal no longer refund any part of their fee when you refund a buyer who has paid by this unsafe method. List on Gumtree instead, Ebay's sister site, where you have total control over how you're paid (which should only ever be in cash or by bank transfer, once the buyer has fully examined the item and is happy with it). Plus, you can leave the ad running till someone has actually turned up, paid, and taken the item away. 🙂
