Bid cancelled by eBay - Suspicious Buyer for item

eBay has informed me that they've cancelled bids for an item as the buyer is not registered. A pain as the item finishes in a few hours and the only bidder is offering a good deal less than the 'bad' one. I suppose that's life but how can a potential buyer bid if they are not registered? I had noticed that they had a big fat zero after their name which filled me (correctly) with dread.

We all had a 'big fat zero' once, so that means nothing.

The buyer was registered when they bid. They are not registered now because Ebay has de-registered them.

To help protect yourself from dodgy buyers, make sure you use the correct postal service (one which covers the full value of the item, and one which will actually insure the item - carriers have 'exclusion' lists). Listing with the wrong service marks you as an inexperienced seller, and therefore an even bigger scammer magnet.
