I have just sold an item to France - in the listing I have offered UPS at £13 which I know is a great reliable service. Once sold ebay has given me the 'ebay is handling the invoice' message even though in the listing it says my choices should override that. The buyer has got back to me and tells me ebay is trying to charge him nearly £20 for the postage. Looks like I may end up having to cancel the order - second time this has happened and both good sales too. Can someone clarify just what the situation is here?

From what I can tell you had your Custom Postage setting for France AND had eBay's Global Shipping Program GPS engaged. If GPS is available to that country, it overrides the Custom Postage option. I personally opt out of GPS (see account settings) and offer Custom Postage like your £13 UPS to France option. Recently I found I was opted back into GPS without my choosing it! So it is worth double checking your settings when eBay overrides your international postage options.

i have just been informed by ebay that any sales via uk to usa will not be able to send a invoice with the postage amount because of tarrif proplem regard less if you have enroled in gps [ which is not compulsary ] or not . it will not matter if item is made in uk or under the $800 sales limit . so if you have sold a item ito usa you have lost a sale and will have cancel order untill sorted out. this is the message you will receive . invoices cannot be sentfor item where ebay manages allor part of the postage these item are excluded rom the invoice .
1st noticed on 24 july . customer services had no idea or knowledge of this till i spoke to a ebay oversesas specialist agent today
