For larger items you should be able to opt out of SD. When you click on the packet size box during the listing process you will get the various size options in a pop-up. Scroll down to the bottom of the pop-up list and you'll see a link that says:
"Looking for heavier or larger package options? Switch to custom postage."
Then you'll be able to set your own postage. Use a browser on a laptop or desktop device.

No, that's what I'm saying, there is no opt out and the parcel size only goes up to 61 x 45 x 45 even for a 20kg parcel. There is no option to do custom anything, hence me coming on here. When on the "how it works" page it states there that the fore mentioned dimensions are the maximum

It must depend on what category the listing is in as I can't see that option either.

Looking at the ops items I’d hazard a guess it’s sets of plates
for certain , this category should have heavy and larger options
you can select up to 20kg on most items I think that seems to be ok
the oversize package (more than medium parcel) should be there logically but it isn’t for many people
a workaround is to list it in a huge size category eg dining table, gives you custom options by default, save the draft then go back and change category and it retains your postage
…stupid but

No, it was a "Vintage Collection" AT-AT Walker which is much bigger than the earlier version so I had to end the listing when the clowns changed the postage options without warning me first, leaving me with a maximum measurement which falls way short of the length and height I need to post it

EBay need to get their finger out and sort out this unholy mess (but they won’t)
they’ve had months and it seems to be too much for them to operate a functioning system
what can one say that hasn’t been said by us because all eBay is saying is how wonderful they and their rubbish are
