proud of delivery to release pending funds

hi everyone,

well it looks like I as a private seller who uses Ebay occasionally has been caught up in this "new" postage Simple delivery mess.

So I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to advise me on what I can do to sort this out?

I have just sold a 90 kilo item of machinery and organised shipping of the item via a web site called Shipley which I have used several times in the past with no problems.

The buyer has paid for the item through Ebay but the payment is pending as Ebay are asking for a 6 digit confirmation number of proof of delivery before they will release the payment.

Is there any way that I can sort this out that you are aware of?

Hello George,

The six digit code is used for 'collection items' , is that how your item was listed? (that's how I would list a 90Kg item! )

The six digit code will have been sent to your buyer. (under 'collection items' the buyer gives the code to the seller at the time of collection, so ebay know it's been collected and release the payment)

Ask your buyer for the code, put it into your sale page and your money should get released.

Hi there and thanks for the information I listed the package under buyer collects having previously advised the buyer that I would accept his “buy it now” offer and provide a FOC delivery. He then paid for the item and I shipped it as agreed.
It was NOT listed in ‘collection items” as far as I can tell.
I will ask the buyer if he has the 6 digit code but if he doesn’t have this am I correct in thinking that the alternative is that the funds will still be released 14 days from sold date which is fine by the way.

He shouId be able to find it in his communications from ebay.  However, I *think* it's 14 days if there's no code...... I'll shout out somebody who probably does know!

You listed the item as "Collection in person only". You therefore cannot upload the tracking number you have and without the collection code from the buyer you have no proof the buyer has received the item that eBay will accept. If the buyer opens an "item not received" case you are probably stuffed.

Anyway; this is what eBay state:

"High priced items or unusual selling patterns may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days to help us ensure that buyers don't have any issues with the order"

I'm pretty sure a ~£790 item listed by an infrequent seller falls under that category.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Hi there and thanks for the info etc.

Re your first comment , the buyer has messaged me via Ebay to let me know it arrived and is in good order. He also commented on how pleased he is with the item and we are in conversation about his old unit(portable generator) that my one has replaced.

Kind regards

None of that matters to ebay.

George, can I suggest you ask them if you can call them and work it out, it'll likely be quicker than messaging and you maybe able to get them to do one of the following while you're on the phone.

Assuming it's this listing

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197424149840

The buyer can do two things.

If they open the listing on a web browser (don't know how it works on the App) and look at 'order details' the 6 digit code should be on that page.

The other thing they can do is fill in positive feedback for the sale.

I would be a little cautious telling them too much and maybe just say it's because you did them a favour shipping, if they are cute and file an 'item not received' claim you'd have a problem.
