No but that's by the by.

You are either a private seller using a private account for selling off unwanted goods from the home to have a clear out.

Or you are a seller who's selling for profit and legally should be on a business account.

The reason why eBay are clamping down is because too many people are looking for whatever account allows them to keep as much money as possible instead of being on the account which reflects their selling activities (business account for those selling items they've purchased to sell for profit, but too many stay on private accounts to rinse eBay's private account promos, even though legally they should be on a business account).

Of course they're not.  Businesses always have to pay more and do not get any 'freebies'. You have to build the fees in to your selling price and work out your margins.

If you are buying items to sell then you are a business seller and shouldregister as one to comply with the law.

If you have received a message from Ebay to change your account, you have no choice.

Have a look at the fee's policy.

Only under the temporary and ridiculous 'bribe' that is the free shop offer being used to 'incentivise' illegal private accounts onto business ones.

There are no free listings - you can get inclusive listings with a shop, but you have to pay a monthly subscription.

Some FVFs are less, but you have to pay VAT on top (it's included for private sellers) - though they will still work out cheaper for business sellers in some categories - and of course, VAT reg bsusiness sellers can claim the VAT element back.

If you sell internationally, the international fee from Oct 1st will be cheaper for business sellers.

However, at the end of the day, it's not which is cheaper, it's what should you be registered as.

@papso22  I think you mean used to "reward" illegal private accounts for avoiding fees for so many years. So you can have another further three months.......
