Just recently sold an item but the problem was the buyer was away on holiday and he wanted me to send it a week later when he got back. Of course in the good old Ebay days that wouldn't have been a problem as we got paid instantly. First of all it took him 2 days to pay for it and then he wanted me to delay sending it! I said to him I wasn't prepared to do this because I would have to wait longer for my money. He seemed totally oblivious to this new Ebay rule which now delays our payments! I cancelled his order and refunded him. I don't see why I should have to wait even longer for my money because he's on holiday. I don't think he understood. Can't do it now anymore I'm afraid.

It always strikes me as odd why buyers don't bother to ask a seller before bidding/buying if it's okay to delay sending the item out, it's a little rude and presumptuous on their part I feel. The seller could be away the following week!
I'm not surprised that many buyers don't know that sellers don't receive payment until the item is delivered or (if under £10) feedback is left, if they don't sell on eBay there's no reason why they would.

I understand that late shipping also receives a ding from Ebay. One or two won't hurt but do it regularly and it could affect your selling standard, as will the inevitable late delivery.

Ah, my favourite, "I've paid but don't post it for a week" message.
Always a pain trying to explain why this is an issue, especially if English isn't the buyers first language.

... if they don't sell on eBay there's no reason why they would.
That's the issue - the buyer is going on holiday, and they want to line up stuff that they need when they return. Quite reasonable - they're not going to sit there under a sunshade, timing their eBay orders for their return date. I receive orders from my website that say don't deliver before [x] date because I'm away, and it's not a problem.
With Etsy, I can move the delivery date so, again, it's not a problem, although it might be if I did it frequently, but I've never had any kickback from Etsy the few times I've needed to do it.
On eBay, there's no function to allow a delay at the buyer's request. The only thing the seller can do is mark it as despatched, and lay themselves open to an INR. As a business seller, payment isn't a problem to me, but it would be to a private seller.
It's yet another example of the eBay app designers not thinking through all the scenarios that can surround a sale and writing the tech spec to incorporate them. Bang-bang-shoot-'em-up development.

I have just had a buyer go mad at me because she was charged more than she offered ,I tried to explain that there was a buyers fee and she was adamant that ebay doesn't charge buyers a fee on second hand goods and that i would receive the full amount ,so i sent her a screenshot of the invoice but she still wasn't happy ,I even sent the item free postage for her but she said that was my fault . So this ebay buyers fee is causing alot of animosity .

That's very odd, because I am sure I read on another thread that if a buyer makes an offer that is what they pay, and the amount the seller gets is reduced to cover the buyer's fee? ( I can't put my finger on the post as there are approximately 765 threads on the subject.)
To be clear, I'm not disputing that it happened.

So far my understanding of offers is:
Seller sends offer - buyer see's seller's offer plus BPF - buyer pays - seller gets offer they sent - Ebay gets BPF
Buyer sends offer - seller accepts offer - ebay deducts BPF - seller gets offer minus BPF aka a seller fee
