Someone has asked if their is a technical reason they cannot buy a Rotovator / tiller I am selling.

I know their ebay name but I know I cannot put it on here.  I asked them if they had bought on ebay recently but no reply yet. Can't see what he has bought or sold recently so can't help him out.  It may be that I blocked them in the distant past but can't find my blocked bidders list. Oh well, any suggestions would be welcome.

Someone has asked if their is a technical reason they cannot buy a Rotovator / tiller I am selling.

This new ruling came in very recently regarding ' any bladed item'.

To help keep buyers and sellers safe, we’ve expanded safety requirements for selling bladed items on ebay.co.uk, with the introduction of buyer age-verification to cover more potentially dangerous items. If you sell bladed items on ebay.co.uk, you need to:

  • Add an age-verified delivery option. Choose a delivery service that requires age verification on receipt.
  • Correctly package the bladed products, and clearly label the parcel to indicate there are bladed items inside.
  • Ensure your packages are delivered to buyers in person, not to parcel lockers, collection points or via local pick up.

Please note that the sale of many types of knives and bladed items is already prohibited on eBay. However, legal bladed products for sale in the UK can be sold to customers who are 18 and over. Proof of age will be required at checkout. You can learn more about adding age-verified delivery options to your listings on our Seller Centre page.

Here's your blocked bidder list:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/bmgt/BuyerBlock

If you can't find it on there you could try putting their ID on your exemption list to lift any other blocks:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/bmgt/ExemptBuyers

eBay have recently tightened (some might say overtightened) age verification for the purchase of knives and other sharp instruments.   Various non-knife items are getting caught up in it and yours could be one of them.   If so the buyer has to put their credit card details on ebay to confirm they are adults.

I don't feel that your rotovator/tiller is being viewed as a bladed item by eBay, I suspect that your buyer is experiencing some other issue.

If you don't want them to be able to bid because they're not getting back to you then check that they've been blocked and that their eBay ID is on your blocked buyers list.

If you do want them to buy, then ask them to let you know what message they're seeing when they click on the Buy It Now button, it may be something to do with not having a card registered for payment.

Hi, I've just clicked Tressygirl as answering the question when I didn't mean to, hubs was chatting away. I've just read the link Tressy put and it all looks like gobbydygook to me, as does most of Ebays stuff. Thanks for the links to blocked bidder, I did find mine in the end and it appears I had NOT blocked this person. I am assuming ebay is calling this machine a bladed item which is absolutely ridiculous, but then again is it AI calling it a bladed item? I will probably just have to remove it and find a different way to sell it locally.   thanks for always helping out.
