Simple delivery is awful

I list a few things on ebay occasionally, but this new simple delivery is just rubbish for sellers. It assumes that ebay actually know the size and weight of items And that everyone can easily get to Evri or other courier services easily. Why did they have to stop the seller from deciding how to post items? Put me right off bothering to use Ebay.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

Simple Delivery may be as slow as second class but it is tracked which second class is not, and covers loss for more than £20.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

Could you not set special delivery as the carrier in you settings when
listing? I am 99% sure you can if that's what you insist on using, in the
last 3 years I have used the tracked 48 service, there is also the 24 hour
service, in that time I have not had a single parcel delayed, lost or
damaged, I can get the exact figure but at any one time I have sent out
upwards of 400 parcels and around 40 in a single day more than once, the
value of individual parcels was upto £500

Re: Simple delivery is awful

No - Special Delivery is not allowed under SD- only tracked 48 or 24

If I want to use Special Delivery it is unreasonable for EBAY to not
offer it. As it is when required I purchase Special Delivery from Royal
Mail direct and submit a claim for a refund of SD, which is mostly paid,
but not always

Re: Simple delivery is awful

I have no time for simple delivery. Utterly inappropriate for the items I sell. How ebay think they can calculate the postage costs of a mixed order for old timetables and catalogues beats me. I have just started getting a pension. Maybe it is time to stop and park my feedback of 9000+ ?

Re: Simple delivery is awful

Ebay has become a greedy money hunger devil, taking commission from delivery companies while making the sellers life a hell.  Does eBay not f*%king take in account the cost of packaging, further when you sell multiple items, it’s charging well over the weight limit making the cost for delivery higher for sellers… they say if you want to avoid simple delivery than change accounts from private to business.. what a load of rubbish.. I don’t have business so why would I pay a monthly fee and also register a business for vat.. honestly going to stop selling on eBay and go to gumtree, vintage and or amazon until I find another company like eBay..

Re: Simple delivery is awful

There is no monthly fee for a business account unless you subscribe to a shop.

There is no need for VAT registration unless you reach the rather large threshold.

There are a number of legal implications when running a business using an ebay private account.

Buying goods to sell requires an ebay business account.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

I have wasted some time with simply delivery & I not sold anything for a while and decided to stop buying stuff on ebay as well.

I have register an account with vinted to see what its like and have only bought the off game so far which seem to be a bit cheaper & buying more stuff from Amazon etc .

Re: Simple delivery is awful

The problem with that is  you also need to comply with UK distance selling and returns laws if I upgraded to a business account to just get around SD .

Are there another issues I've not sort of ?

Re: Simple delivery is awful

If it happens, explain it to the buyer and cancel the orders, if you lose money, ebay lose its money as well, once buyers are unhappy about this as much as sellers, they might consider put choices back again, since they might listen to buyers.

That's the reason I cannot list 80+ more items anymore, I have to renew it, but I can't until it doesn't change back.

The day ebay decides to listen I shall be happily watching a formation of
pigs do a flypast while listening to every politician on earth correct
every lie they ever told and experiencing hell freeze over!

Re: Simple delivery is awful

If you have sellers and buyers unhappy on this kind of platforms, either you sell it (should someone want to take your mess and fix it) or you go bankrupt and close. It seems they want to do the second one.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

Of course ebay doesn't take in the cost of packing! That's an old rule change from about 10 years ago where you could only charge for the cost of the postage service, not the packing too, yes its not as enforced as much, but the rule is that parcel 48 small parcel service then you can only charge £3.55 for postage, you then of course end up with some sellers not giving a flying duck, like one of the first items I got after that change which was a wall clock that had a thin glass dome that had been posted in just a large paper envelope, needless to say it didn't survive the postage system!

Re: Simple delivery is awful

I've got one thing for sale on eBay and simple delivery has miscalculated the weight & dimensions or something else Royal Mail says £24+ to send SD eBay says £14.

I sold an item yesterday but I don't know if I will be paid because I used special delivery and not their printed label thing. When or if the item gets sold I will never sell on eBay again. Their system is not fit for purpose so goodbye eBay hello Facebook market place.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

I sent an item yesterday and found that it's now possible to adjust the weight and size of a package after the sale, without affecting the cost of the postage. I suppose that's something, but I'd still rather have the option of setting my own postage and being able to upgrade, without cost to the buyer, if I wanted to.

Re: Simple delivery is awful

I've been on facebook marketplace for some years now due to the cost of shipping on ebay and you even get as much or more for some items & never had to pay any fees. For more specialised stuff you'd probably pay for a boost on FB just like you can on Vinted

Re: Simple delivery is awful

It is very limited - you can increase an SD parcel for up to 1kg to be
up to 2kg. That's all. And Tracked 24/48 is 0 to 2kg anyway, so it is
just rubbish. If your parcel is more than 4kg , which can happen after
packing to meet a customers needs, you cannot change a 2kg label to the
next level which is up to 10kg. Instead you have to call customer
services. Good luck!

Re: Simple delivery is awful

Thanks for reaching out, if you speak to eBay, they will refund you the simple delivery if you explaining the situation.. this is what happens to me. They sent me a refund link though it does say it will take 14days for refund to be processed if they believed you are eligible
