Sending Offers? Don't Get Caught Out Like I just did!!

On the 'Send Offers' popup, it always showed 'Offer Amount' as the drop down default.

It has now changed to 'Percent Off'.

I didn't notice and instead of sending a £44.99 offer on a £69.99 item, it sent 44.99 percent off the price.

I am hoping the person doesn't accept!

Also, the 'Send Automated Offer' and 'Allow Counter Offers' no longer remember your choices for subsequent offers (it used to), so you have to keep sliding them off for each offer.

The 'Don't show sent offers again' tick box also no longer remembers your choice.

Are eBay 'tinkering' again?

I feel your pain. I very nearly fell for the same thing a couple of months ago but I caught it in time.

Ebay software updates seem to be installed on Friday evening, then the geeks go home for the weekend while we unknowingly test the updates; then they come into work on Monday to pick up the pieces. Saves the cost of testing.

If you don't want your offer to be accepted, end the listing now, then "sell similar".

Probably a deliberate ploy; eBay don't give a monkey about Sellers.  I'd end the listing if you can.

I would contact the seller immediately and explain the situation i.e. an honest mistake. Any good seller will agree to cancel the sale, or you could ask to cancel also if the offer accepted.

I think they are the seller. I've never seen "make a % based offer" as a buyer, anyway.

If you don't want to end the listing and relist, you can also set the quantity to 0, and then back to normal when the offer has expired.

I have just read that this has cropped up in the USA - there are complaints about this percentage being applied to their offers also.

"It also appears that the type of offer (percentage off or dollar amount) is no longer sticky either and is instead defaulting to percentage - which can make a big difference for sellers who aren't paying close attention and don't realize it's no longer using their previous setting.

It ALSO changes the DEFAULT TYPE of Offer to PERCENTAGE OFF. Sure enough, I already got caught. I remembered to do my 2 sliders but totally forgot to change my Offer Type back to the Dollar Amount & I sent one lower than I intended.

kyle@ebay Please note that in addition to changing our slider defaults, this ALSO changed the default TYPE of Offer being sent & it's really easy to miss that. Esp b/c those of us who do a bunch go flying down the list & instead of offering $25, you can easily accidentally offer 25% off!

AND They Keep Defaulting all my offers to a PERCENTAGE OFF instead of a SPECIFIC OFFER AMOUNT. I changed and toggled off both but EVERY LISTING I go to send offers on Keeps Reverting back to their settings. I got burnt on this once today. I am not thrilled to say the least...

... Listing sold within a minute. at 20 percent off which was never my intention."
