Just a quick question, Ebay offers a Royal Mail Tracked 24 with proof of Delivery...is this the same one thats offered directly with Royal Mail as Tracked 24 with signature?
I don't see how it could be a different service, but I want a signature with name and gps as proof of delivery not just a photo proof of delivery.
Thank you.

There is a tick box towards the bottom on 24 and 48 tracked to include a signature,
which costs an extra £1 something.

RM do offer Tracked 24 (and 48) with or without a signature. I would assume that you do not get a signature with the Ebay service unless they state this is the case.
The service with a signature is higher priced,

There will be a GPS pin at the point where the label on the package is scanned regardless of whether you have demanded a signature.
All demanding a signature does is make the delivery inconvenient for people who may be out (probably at work) when the postie calls, and the need for a signature means they are unable to leave the package in a designated safe place at that address. Then then try and deliver again the following day and then return the package to the depot and the recipient then has to go through the rigmarole of either rebooking delivery for a day when they can arrange to be in, or they have to trail to their delivery office to collect it.
A signature frankly, offers no benefit - as you have to sign on a PDA screen nowadays, it is almost impossible to write anything that looks like your actual signature - literally anybody could sign on the screen and it would look no more or less like your signature than the scrawl you can achieve yourself. Utterly meaningless and just an inconvenient waste of time and cost.

Please be aware that, if you post anything really expensive (over £450.00) you will need tracking, *and a signature* in order to be covered in the event of non-delivery.

For non business account users, standard Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 only cover up to £150 anyway.
If sending anything more valuable than that, I would suggest that Special Delivery is more appropriate.

I always make sure that my items are fully insured these days, better safe than sorry, but when I have something delivered with Tracked 24/48 the postie just scans then leaves the items on the door step and goes. So it potentially can be left unattended for some time.
I wanted to make sure that this particular item was actually signed for, that way it is handed over to someone and not just abandoned on a door step where anyone can take it.
I went ahead and purchased the label through eBay selecting extra for proof of posting and the label printed off as signed for, which is what I wanted, not sure why the wording on eBay was different to the RM site. But if you pay for the proof of delivery it gives you the signed for service.
