New Rule - eBay to hold sellers funds for 14 days

Effective February 2025, ebay will hold private sellers funds for 14 days if the order is posted with an un-tracked delivery service (such as Royal Mail 2nd Class).

I think it's a brilliant idea if they want private sellers to leave the platform in their masses.

Good shout thank you for that I'll chase it up.

I suppose my point still stands though, if people have to continuously contact eBay for situations like this to me this says the current changes aren't going to work.

Here's a good one on the holding funds

What happens with Global Shipping Programme payments as my responsibility stops when it gets to the shipping company as that's who I sent it to , so do I then have to wait while the buyer gets it

No thought has been put into this system

I haven't a clue but you should get your money as soon as it arrives at the
Global Shipping address as you have done all you possible can.

I posted an item, buyer has left feedback , the tracking details on Royal Mail Website show an update will be available once delivery has been attempted!  already delivered, so clearly the postman has not scanned the parcel and now I will have to wait 14 days for payment due to this!  even though feedback confirmed buyer has it

really not on I have been with Ebay for 20 years and this is just not going to work, if the postman doesn't scan a parcel that it not my fault, I have sold and item I should be paid once it has been paid for

I have tried afew bits on here since the new rules came into play and it is not working it is ridiculous messing about , I am not selling based on these rules

I posted an item at the local P.O yesterday because eBay wont let me select "Large Parcel" now in the drop down box. I posted the item with Parcelforce using Express, Tracked shipping.

This is what the tracking number shows me today....

Looks like my money will be on hold for two weeks now through no fault of my own.

We will have to vote with our feet, that is what I will do. It is a
disgrace I can't see how it is legal to hold people's money at there will.

I hope and everyone else here is complaining to eBay too. If we don’t they won’t do anything

It’s because it’s probably still at the post office or Parcelforce didn’t bother to scan it yet.

It means that either the postman couldn’t be bothered to scan it or the tracking hasn’t updated (happens all the time with Standard 2nd Class). What you can do is ring Royal Mail just to double check on the status and get in touch with eBay and tell them that the buyer left feedback, therefore, the item was delivered.

Don’t even know why this is not a standard practice that when buyer leaves feedback, the status should be automatically updating to delivered. But I suppose common sense doesn’t work at eBay

none of this should  be necessary it wasn't before and if I am mistaken Royal Mail look on the same tracking info that you can do yourself online .  I am not going to ring customer services, the online agent assistance has also been removed!  you can no longer speak to an agent other than now on the phone - why?  why has the chat service gone for agent contact - sorry ebay just making all of the wrong decision now

'Don’t even know why this is not a standard practice that when buyer leaves feedback, the status should be automatically updating to delivered. But I suppose common sense doesn’t work at eBay'

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Up until now (well the end of this month..*) Ebay have NEVER taken  pos feedback-left-by-the-buyer, as proof of delivery.

Their take on it is ; 'Feedback can be left by mistake'... therefore it's not proof of anything.

(yes, it seems nuts that feedback could be left by mistake, but it *does* happen. I've seen it personally.)

*..end of this month . Ebay will apparently be accepting + feedback left as proof of delivery, which will release the funds after 2 days. Not 14.  BUT only on sales for less than a tenner.

(I reckon ebay have calculated the odds of 'mistake feedback' being left on the same sale as a 'did not arrive' claim. These odds being so tiny, they're prepared to cough up the occasional £10.00 in order to feel smug about giving private sellers a tiny break in all the new gloom and doom....)

I completely get that. When it comes to Royal Mail and Standard 2nd Class, the tracking is  a bit of a hit and miss, but it’s up to you. I can only advise you what you can do to cover your back, but ultimately you’ll do what you wanna do

I was told no funds would be released without delivery on tracking

So i said what happens if tracking does not say delivered but buy leaves positive feedback they have goods , they said no funds to be released

Somewhat helpful, if the buyer actually leave the feedback. If not, you still have to wait 14 days for your money (that is if send non recorded or standard 2nd class)

I have dates on my untracked items when they will go into available balance i think the first will go in 21/2, nothing to do with needing proof of delivery it's automatic 14 days
