Why are they breaking something that's working fine. EBay would be better off putting their efforts into fixing the numerous problems that already exist!

Over the years I've said many times that the old saying was "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but ebay have adapted the saying to "If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is"!! 😠
So it's going to be "read only" from the 11th to the 15th? Must be some fair changes to take that long?
I've just thought.... Will all our links to pages still work or will we have to start afresh?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

We will have to wait & see, but if it's a change for the better, I will be very surprised - anything that promises a 'fresh modern look, simplified navigation, and enhanced features...' does not usually bode well, imo.
The blurb also contains pretty much the full set of AI's favourite words... excited... simplified... enhanced... experience... and streamlined.
Oh dear... 😱

🙄 I think time could be better spent elsewhere improving the site. It’s not the first time the community has been fiddled with. It sounds like they are bringing in features Im really not interested in. I like to pop in, have a quick scan, maybe post and then scoot out again. Once it changes I may not bother visiting. I actually didn’t bother much the last time it changed when I had been a regular poster.

Cheaper…. 🤣

I hope they're not going to replace Marco, Kat and the others with AI... That definitely wouldn't be an improvement. I'm sure most of us have little interest in conversing with what is effectively a robot. Generally not a very good one either.

Whenever an organisation announces "new, improved etc", without fail it never is. It's always "improved" as far as the organisation is concerned, but never for the customer. In fact in my experience, the more hyped-up the announcement, the worse the "new, improved" service turns out to be. I hate to be so cynical, but AFAIC ebay cooked its own goose with the hype they put out about the Orwellian-named Simple Delivery.
My guess is that they're putting it on to a new platform so that they can completely block it from Google, make it more difficult for new people to find, and make it less user-friendly for existing users so that only those with a desperate problem will bother to use it.
I could be proved wrong, and I hope I am (but I doubt it).

I really hope the changes they make are not as "good" as the ones that they made on the river.
The community virtually died after them.
Almost impossible to navigate in any meaningful way as they simplified far too well.

If they wanted to block it from Google feel it would be a darn site cheaper to update their robots.txt file

I could be wrong but on this platform, wouldn't they have to block every page, whereas on a new platform, they could just do a single block of the platform itself.

"We will provide a detailed FAQ on how to navigate the new Community platform once we are live"
It's pretty self-explanatory how to navigate this Community platform. I wonder how complicated they're making the new platform if it needs "a detailed FAQ" on how to use it. It sounds as though it's going to be as simple as "Simple Delivery" ☹️

I certainly hope Marco and his colleagues are not replaced with AI since Marco has been a godsend to me when I have had eBay issues. Without him they would still be unresolved.

Lets face it these boards have been slowly dying since the change to the present format. There is nothing like the interaction there used to be.

New platform? Oh dear...
First the Community Chat, now a new platform. I really cannot see this ending well.
I have absolutely no doubt that the Community Team knew precisely what was in the pipeline when the Wednesday Chats ended, though no doubt they were prevented from saying anything. Just like almost every single response that was ever given, so no change there then...
Personally I wouldn't be at all surprised if the 'new improved' platform featured eBay's Artificial Idiot providing responses whilst the Community Team (actually, come to think of it, who's to say they're not AI - anybody ever met them?) are redeployed somewhere else.
Probably best to say goodbye now then, just in case the entire system goes down the Swanee on June 11th.
If our paths never cross again, good luck everyone. It's been a blast.

Ebay....... could you fix the search engine, the bladed items policy, the promoted listings nonsense, customer service, and algorithms instead ?
