Whenever an organisation announces "new, improved etc", without fail it never is.  It's always "improved" as far as the organisation is concerned, but never for the customer.  In fact in my experience, the more hyped-up the announcement, the worse the "new, improved" service turns out to be.  I hate to be so cynical, but AFAIC ebay cooked its own goose with the hype they put out about the Orwellian-named Simple Delivery.

My guess is that they're putting it on to a new platform so that they can completely block it from Google, make it more difficult for new people to find, and make it less user-friendly for existing users so that only those with a desperate problem will bother to use it.

I could be proved wrong, and I hope I am (but I doubt it).
