So today I have sold an item has a private seller. The new fees disguised has buyer protection are a big con.
My item sold for 25.00 plus postage on the listing which is what I listed it for, my buyer paid promptly and ebay are yet to credit me with 22.00 plus postage once received. They have taken 3.00 from me for this one sale even though they claim there are no selling fees. It is disgraceful this new system it only benefits Ebay not the buyer & defiantly not the seller.
I have made the decision to no longer list on this platform and I will go with other platforms that are currently free.

This doesn't sound like the Buyer Protection Fee. According to eBay the BPF only applies to electronics from today (other categories to follow). Even if eBay had screwed that up the BPF is calculated as 4% + 75p. So, even if it was the BPF it would have been £1.75, not £3.00.
Have you checked the sales record to see what fees or deductions are shown there?

If you listed the item at £25 plus postage and that’s what it sold for then that’s what you’ll receive. Seller protection has only been applied to the electronics category so far. I’m assuming the item you sold was not electronics?
Under the new rules that will be two days after delivery if you sent it tracked (and uploaded the number to the order if the label was bought off site) . 14 days if not.
I agree it sucks, but as far as I can tell you have not been robbed of £3.

Did you promote the listing? Go to the order page you will see a full breakdown to the bottom right hand side

Hi the-pistol-shrimp, thanks for your post.
It sounds like 4_bathrooms is correct here, but if you confirm the item number, I can look into it for you no problem just to double check.
Thank you,
Marco
