AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

i delisted my items when they forced me onto e bay and i was unable to do the work around. I have just listed a few items on collection only, just to see what happens but i doubt very much if any of it will sell.

Odd that. After reading this I have just tried to list an item, and advanced settings are still active.

I noticed something different when relisting some items today. When I select multiple old listings to relist or sell similar they are now switched over to simple delivery with the following note at the top of the bulk listing page:
I'm unable to edit domestic postage in bulk edit view and the postage details column just says 'Buyer Pays rates from £3.38 (simple delivery)' for all items regardless of size or weight.
If I relist items one by one they are also switched to simple delivery. But items with auto relist switched on have not been switched to simple delivery. Also on the individual item edit page I can scroll down and at the bottom of the package size list I still get 'Looking for heavier or larger package options? Switch to custom delivery'.
So I'm not sure if the account has now been switched to mandatory simple delivery. I think we were told before on one of the chats that when that happened the 2-10kg rate would be available but that's not shown to me at all.
The rates selected by ebay for the switched items seemed sensible in some cases but not in others.
- A book where I specify the weight over 2kg in the description is put in the under 2kg band
- A t-shirt which I have listed as a small parcel because it's quite thick has been put in the large letter band
- Two other shirts where one was listed as large letter and one as small parcel have been correctly put in large letter and under 1kg parcel bands.

It is looking more and more like Ebay is in some big trouble or even circling the drain as they have resorted to almost stealing from their customers. Freezing OUR money after a sell for interest I can only assume. Making us initiate the withdrawl once they unfreeze OUR money to get a few more days interest. Force us to ship OUR products with their shippers. Force us to buy our postage for those 2 shippers through themselves. Tell us to leave feedback on sales but there is only a "Positive" button. They have fallen very very far, very fast which is a shame as just 5-10 years ago they were a premier worldwide company.

I am trying a different approach and selecting Freight for a very small package. I just added in my description that it is Free Delivery and the normal shipper I use for delivery. Just an experiment to see how Ebay handles that.

I have more than one eBay account and interestingly one of them is not being forced onto Simple Delivery when I tried to revise a listing just now. So I can only assume they're staggering the change and that that they will eventually force all accounts to accept Simple Delivery.

when my items were switched to SD i was still able to do the work around and get custom postage but that stopped after about a week. Now i can do nothing to work around it and believe me i have tried all sorts!

keep us updated, if it works will give it a try.

Have you factored the postage cost into the item price? Disadvantage of this is the buyer pays the BPF % on the postage too. They get us every which way. Our sales are dead either as too expensive or not visible unless we pay to promote.

changed my mind and tried one item doing it that way. Wonder how long it will take for them to do something about that possible work around?.

I am sure your right and if it seems to work, they will find a way to put a stop to it as it looks like they are resorting to any means necessary to take every last bit of our money.

The ebay management are probably reading these threads trying to determine if they have made enough concessions yet to get away with recent hostile changes.
The answer is a clear no as the diminished proposition for both buyers and sellers is still unacceptable to anyone sane so ebay should expect continued decline from their fundamental errors of judgement.
It's just better elsewhere on many categories now.
They need to get on with fixing combined postage, excluding all letter and large letter rates, renaming the protection fee to be less unnecessarily offensive to private sellers, only delaying payment on high risk users or transactions, etc.

I'm not sure what you mean, admittedly I haven't sold something on ebay for about six months, but I assume it hasn't changed much since then, I just click to post it and it offers to buy me a Royal Mail label or an Evri label etc, I pay for this through ebay since it's the same price as if I did it from the Royal Mail website, the label prints off and I stick it on the parcel, what's the big deal, all ebay's doing is allowing me to purchase the label from Royal Mail, ebay has nothing else to do with it.

I don't see the problem, ebay can't stop you from posting it yourself, walk into a post office with the parcel and buy some stamps!
07-06-2025 8:47 PM
But eBay will have charged the buyer and deducted that from your payment.By paying again, yourself, you will be losing out big tie.
07-06-2025 8:47 PM
Yeah well times have changed Im afraid.
07-06-2025 8:49 PM
If I am not mistaken, they no longer provide an address for shipping under order details until you purchase the label through them.

I've no idea what you're talking about. I sell you something, you pay £20. I receive the £20. I can either buy postage through Ebay from my money, or buy it at the post office from my money. I keep £16.

So just use their system. What's the problem? It's the same price as ordering direct from Royal Mail or Evri.
I can't see how they can charge you in advance, they don't know the exact weight and size.
