AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

On the quality of Evri's deliveries at the moment... I imagine they have experienced a huge increase in the number of parcels to be delivered, since SD came into effect. This will continue during the course of the rollout.
They probably haven't employed new drivers yet, until they can gauge the effect of the increase. This will mean a deterioration in service, but it should only be temporary. Evri won't want to jeopardise this contract - it must be one of their biggest, if not the the biggest one they have.

Our local drop off shop for evri is a tesco express and the bag of parcels has been overflowing for 2 days now so obviously been no collection ,and a few days ago they had to stop people dropping off parcels because they were full up behind the shop counter . So we also hate simple delivery because it means parcels are going to be late being delivered and probably badly handled because the evri driver will be in a hurry to get all the parcels out so they won't care how they handle them .

Ah
every little evri parcel doesn’t help then
🤣

As for the quality of Evri service. I can the following observations
I use two fairly close by “parcel shops” for Evri drop off - both have a little printer which is good for me as I don’t have one at home. A “corner shop” and a Tesco’s. I asked and both had seen a big increase in Evri parcels but only the corner shop knew why - the Tesco’s people didn’t know about SD and the cause of the increased traffic.
monitoring closely I haven’t seen a drop or delay in collections from these shops. I always drop off in morning and they are usually collected in the afternoon.
what I have seen is a difference in service standard between SD and “normal” Evri. On two separate occasions I happen to sold two things - one item SD and the other normal. And took them to the parcel shop at the same time and they were collected at the same time and “entered the Evri network” the same time. On the first occasion the SD posted item was a day later than “normal” and on the second occasion it was nearly 2 days slower.
on the first occurrence though I got the money quicker as I got positive feedback straight away and so no further delay after delivery.
so for now at least SD is slower than normal delivery but at a £1 cheaper than normal this is fair enough.

Perhaps with evri to get the 'normal' service you'll need to pay for 'express'? 😉

Yes cheaper but means people have to wait longer for their money if there is a delay in deliveries .Our local drop off shop is a tesco express and the sack behind the shop counter has been full and overflowing with parcels because they haven't been collected for 2 days .I am still using the RM but my partner uses SD for sending parcels .I have noticed how quiet our Post office in WH Smiths has been for the last month or more ,we used to have to queue for some time, but now we walk straight up to the counter and we have posted the same time every day for years .

We also have a long history of accepting that Americans will take advantage of us as part of the special relationship.

I work with an American who thinks we just drink tea to get over it.
Maybe there hasn't been enough tea drinking with SD which is why everyone remains so angry?

End of the day ebay had to backtrack

RM site shows up to 750g (that's the highest for large letter - don't know what weighs that much with the dimensions restrictions! slab of granite?)
In answer to your question I have 6 glossy magazines for sale on my 'boot sale' website and they weight 690g in a cardback A4 envelope which fits within the large letter slot and will thus cost me £2.70 to post by Royal Mail which, with a free certificate of posting, is amply covered by Royal Mail's £20 compensation limit.

Yeah they haven't announced enough changes to get this to be acceptable yet.
They must be going through their own grief curve on thinking they could pull a fast one.

Grief curve

RM recently increased Large Letter weight options to 1kg although not all of their site has been updated yet.

That's just one good example of so many reasons why dealing with RM is the option of choice for so many people.

If the 5 stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance then yes we have seen the denial, the anger was probably private and we seem to be at the bargaining stage where they have announced some concessions and are trying to judge if they will be enough for people to accept these changes.

I lost my trust here so my money is better off with me than letting a online platform gain interest from money that is mine.

It does give the impression that such a big negative response that is not really easing has caused some rethinking.
10-05-2025 9:50 PM
I can't see how the pressure can ease until it's change to stop causing ongoing problems for people.
Large letter is the next big issue with SD that I would like to see resolved as for items under £20 there is no need for tracking (who cares if the item passes through which mail center) and it's a huge % uplift on what people should be paying.
