AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

We have a fabulous one so whilst I'd balk at using Evri as a postal option for selling not knowing who completes the delivery, I have no qualms in ordering from sellers using Evri.
As you and your friends do not have a clone of my Evri delivery lady, and your deliveries are falling short of being successful, then always ask a seller, to opt out of Evri for you and select Royal Mail , options are still limited for sellers under the new rulings of Simple Delivery.
It definitely does depend on the courier. Our latest one had a habit of leaving items in full view at the front door. I filled out the ‘how did your courier do’ survey evri sent out and told them I was not happy with the way my deliveries were arriving. It has since improved, kind of, the courier now throws the parcel onto the back doorstep and he throws neighbours parcels over their back gates 🙄 we now get our parcels but the contents may or may not be broken

We had an Evri driver who had a habit of walking into people's houses uninvited which was frightening for women. Complaints were made and he seems to have disappeared.

You have to wonder why these people were leaving their doors open for all and sundry to walk in?

In Devon there are people who still do, its what they've always done.

I looked into ebid but it seemed a bit clunky, I tried bonanza as well but in six months sold nothing.

This happened to me once. Yes my front door is fully closed and not always locked as i sometimes forget during the day. IF one lives in a really good area (like i do) i do not thnk it is unreasonable to assume that someone is not going to just walk in your house uninvited. Having a steel door and bars at the windows on my house is not an option either.
Shirl.

I've never found the need for a steel door or bars at the windows either, but when I shut my front door it cannot be simply opened from the outside, and I find having a conventional Yale or similar lock is sufficient for daytime use, with the lever lock being used at night or when I go out. I think insurance companies prefer you to lock the door too otherwise they may not give you cover.

Which gives me no confidence to buy items for my glass collection on ebay. It was bad enough when sellers would quote for RM but then send evri Tracked to avoid any come-back if the item went missing and to save a few pence.
Now all I can see is Standard or Express and I think contacting the seller is more difficult to find out who is going to deliver. It shouldn't be this difficult, why not be transparent?

You can find out which carrier will be used by clicking on 'Contact Seller' then 'Postage' (no need to actually contact the seller). Express Tracked is always Royal Mail Tracked 24.

I'm just returning to ebay after a long absence and have wound myself (and customers) into knots with simple postage, especially as regards dealing with multiple purchases. In addition I don't like the assumption that packaging is free - I like to use wide diameter posting tubes to make my items secure. And to add insult to injury I can't charge for my packaging time - not that I ever would but it galls to be told by a big corporation just how worthless I am.

Peeps are just adding any packaging costs to the starting price of their item, same as in the old golden days of ' Free Postage' on listings ! 🤗

I didn't know that, thanks for info.
Personally I would prefer Tracked 48, I'm in no hurry for a piece of vintage glassware and it's cheaper sent that way.

As someone once said "If you can't convince 'em, confuse 'em".
Seems to be working well for ebay.

Their main service seems to have shifted to just becoming a distributor of chinese made garbage where the exact same item is sold by 50 different sellers. They have decided to hold funds while they collect our interest after the sale has been made. They have monopolized the shipping on their own selling platform. They are doing that by buying other shippers services, adding their own T&Cs to it and reselling it to long time loyal sellers for a profit. They tell sellers to leave feedback but take you to a page with only a positive button on it. The REAL balance sheet must be pretty bad to cause them to treat once loyal customers as now just a means to pickpocket every penny from them.

I think the thing is, Stupid Delivery may suit someone, unfortunately I have not seen a single post on here to support this move, not like I have time to read every post. Also I have not seen any argument back from the MODs, as I think they also know there is no positive from this move for sellers.
If as a business you have this amount of Market Research showing that your customers hate something you did, where before they were ok with setting their own postage, surely you would look at making SD optional. But as said, there are other market places out there, and the longer this goes on, the more trade will move to the competition. ( I need to resurrect that old lifetime membership with that similar named platform beginning with " E " ).
The problem is, if we didn't like selling on Ebay then people would not be this passionate about this. I want Ebay to be successful, as it help me, none of us are on this forum just to slag off Ebay, we are all trying to make a point that SD was a terrible decision and it needs to be reversed.
