Labels!

I sold some books weighing 3.5kg and went to purchase the label - but noticed the weight on the  label is only up to 1kg. (maybe wrong on the listing, is that how it knows?). And it cannot be edited!

Anyway, i go to the order page and I have only the name and the message - "The buyer's full address will appear on your prepaid label"..

So I cannot see it without purchasing the label (which would be no good as under weight).

I have had to message the buyer for the full address so I can send the item another way.

Is this progress? I think not.

Any other ideas ? Thanks in advance,as always!

I think I accidentally enabled Simple Delivery when creating the listing (or is it on by default?)

Anyway, to get it posted I purchased an Evri label myself and sent it - problem is there is no way of entering tracking for that label as the system is expecting me to use the Ebay one..

Will contact CS now, thanks for the replies 👍

As you had listed with simple delivery, the buyer would have paid for the label. That is why the label was sent to you and not the buyers address.

Yes, it's all so complicated these days.    You could cancel the transaction (with buyer agreement) and relist with correct postage for them to buy and pay again.

You can still revert to setting your own postage, by clicking on 'Switch to advanced options' link, under 'Postage set-up' on the listing page.

Simple Delivery is not mandatory yet! Perhaps if enough of us keep reverting to setting our own postage, eBay will keep that option open?! 🤞

Yes, but I hadn't spotted that when creating the listing...hence the underweight label I suspect.

I have obtained buyer address and bought my own label - but now cannot enter tracking to the sale as the 'system' is expecting me to buy the provided label !  No tracking = delayed funds . *bleep*.

If you cannot manually edit that tracking using a laptop / PC  and with Chrome,  then contact eBay Customer Services they will change this for you.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

As long as you didn't use eBay's Simple Delivery,  just purchased the label from eBay you can receive a refund for the unused label.  You may need to wait 24 hours for it to appear before being able to cancel it.

Find your label with this link . https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/lmng/labels-history/seller-hub and to the left of the sales record there is a drop down menu under 'Actions' click on that , then click on 'Void Label'.

The refund will take between 5 - 21 days to process.

I think the OP did use Simple Delivery for the original label.  If so, is there any way they can cancel it & get a refund?

I dont think so as the buyer would have paid Ebay for it so nothing to do woth the seller.

Having re-read your original post, I realised you hadn't purchased the first label - sorry for confusing the issue.

Yes, unfortunately, 'Simple (ha!) Delivery' is now the default postage system, so that is probably why you ended up with the wrong weight for your item, although I've noticed the old 'Select your own postage' option also seems to default to the 1kg weight category. You have to double-check everything these days... 🙄

Hope CS can sort out the tracking for you.

Yeh u gotta be careful with this. It goes by adding up the weights u put per item but u can also edit the weight manually on the bit u buy a label (well on mine thats how it is). If u buy a label for a service that is "up to 15kg" but ur label has 100g on it and u have 1kg, ur likely to get a packlink charge in a motnhs time.
