Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

OK so listing some items tonight

good news first - even though Simple Delivery is now being pushed I can opt out to custom settings and select my standard shipping rates

bad news - I have to opt out of Simple Delivery every time I list even though I am listing similar items. Really?

This is from ebay itself:  You can opt out of Simple Delivery when you're creating your listing by selecting Custom Postage from the delivery options. If you'd prefer not to use Simple Delivery at all in the future, you'll need to opt out each time this programme is recommended when you're creating listings.

I mean what does that last sentence mean anyway?

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Hi I contacted customer complaints and did get a reply. I told them I wouldn't sell anything else until they change it. Maybe you could complain. Thanks

Hi.
Below the Simple Delivery, choose advanced settings. You will be able to change to custom settings.

But it is not there as an option for everyone.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Try selecting the letter option in SD, then see if advanced settings comes up. Try adding weight below 100g. Try sell similar on an item which is not SD. Adanced options does show eventually. On descktop.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

They have absolutely destroyed EBay, as of today I’m not even getting the option to Opt out and the postage costs on eBay are fairly higher than buying direct from couriers. Seriously considering leaving this platform altogether.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Your items are all Brand New .   I am not supposed to advise to have a correct account registration,  but being a business seller,  you would not have to worry about Simple Delivery.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Here you go,  the steps to follow to change a Private account to a Business Account:

  1. Go to My eBay: Access your eBay account and navigate to the "My eBay" section.

  2. Select Account: Click on the "Account" tab within My eBay.

  3. Go to Personal Information: Choose the "Personal information" option from the left side of the page.

  4. Edit Account Type: Locate the "Account type" section and click the "Edit" button next to it.

  5. Choose Business Account: On the "Change Account Type" page, select the "Business Account" option.

  6. Confirm: Confirm your selection by clicking the "Confirm" button.

You may need a laptop / PC and use Chrome to do this,  not the app or mobile browser.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

ebay must be in bad shape to start stealing customers money. They freeze our money after a sale so they can get interest! We have to initiate withdrawl after they highjack our funds so they hope we froget and they get a few more days of collecting interest. They now take away our shipping options so they can make money selling shipping through the 2 worst shippers in Britain. Pathetic what ebay has become!

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

This is ridiculous, every time I start a new listing it's pot luck which of the following happens;
1) two boxes appear side by side with the Simple Delivery box selected, I have to click the right hand box for Advanced.
2) I have to click on a text link underneath the postage option to switch to advanced delivery, then click again in a popup to confirm.
3) I get no option other than Simple Delivery and have to cancel the listing and start a new one with hopefully one of the above options.

I'm selling in the same category and at the same price. It's a joke, it's like they'd rather lose us as customers than allow us to use fair and appropriate postage.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

I did not have custom postage, so opt-out is impossible.

Very frustrating. I think I'll stop using eBay if it continues, they are making "free" ad and take more and more in forced expense.

Ridiculous.

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

They have now removed that option and there is no way for you to control how you want your items sent anymore.  I am sure they saw everyone was using that feature and removed it!

Re: Having to opt out of Simple Delivery on EVERY LISTING

Thanks for confirming, unfortunately.

Unless I'll need auction, I guess I'll move to vinted, gumtree or équivalent. This is annoying this way of lying attitude. They claim free and take a lot everywhere somehow they even found a way to revert the price I was selling to the lower suggested price.  All those things to make it easier for you presumably are mostly to make it more profitable for them.

Maybe it is time for a better competitor to show up 🙂

Thanks the community.

Bye eBay.
