Has anyone sold to the US through the Global Shipping Programme in the last few days?

It does seem to be active with items showing up on ebay.com - just wondering if eBay are charging buyers the relevant tariffs.

eBay will only be charging the tariff if the item is shipped via the Global Shipping Programme.

Items sent via Royal Mail (or that are handed to USPS for final delivery) require the sender to pay the relevant tariff(s) when purchasing the postage label plus a 50p admin charge. The admin charge appears to be £1.50 if the postage label is purchased at a Post Office counter.

Parcels sent via courier usually require the buyer to pay the applicable tariff(s) upon import.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

EVRI and DPD purchased at a Post Office counter are not requiring pre-payment of tariffs from us, but they are requiring the Buyer's number and email. That is because these couriers won't send the items outside of the UK until Buyers pay tariffs in advance.

But these comments are all about Custom International Postage. What about the original question by @jjambadger27  - Has anyone had GSP to the States this week, and did eBay collect the tariffs?

Wondering if the resounding silence on this question means that nobody has got GSP to the USA working...

Royal Mail also require the buyer's telephone number and email address even though any tariffs are pre-paid by the sender; this seems to be a requirement for all goods regardless of how or when the tariff is paid. That said, where non-postal parcels are concerned it wouldn't surprise me if domestic couriers in the US have started asking receivers to pay tariffs due before packages arrive at the border.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Indeed! It would be good to keep this on track about people's experiences of posting to the US via the GSP hub.

Its working, but if you sell anything thats made in the countries that Trump has issues with you will 100% not be selling as it makes the items basically double in price. Case in question a pair of standard Nike Air Force 1 will sell around £80, shipping to US will be £21.56 (not actually too bad) but then import charges of approx £59.13.

I did ask in the weekly chat that if the buyer doesn't pay for an item owing to tariff costs, can the transaction be simply cancelled? The reply was that if they don't pay, "they generally will not receive their item" & that "eBay Money Back Guarantee does not apply when the buyer refuses to pay required import charges". I'm struggling to see a situation where a seller would despatch an item when those costs have not been paid...

Have just sold an item to the USA with GSP.

From what I can see tariffs have not been collected.

Item was made in EU, sold for £77, taxes of £5.95 have been collected, but the tariff for EU made items to the USA is 15% so £11.55 should have been collected. Will see what happpens.

Was it the SNCF loco? This is what I see if I view postage to the US on the original listing:

Weird. How much postage did eBay charge the buyer?

That looks correct (ie what it should be) but it is not at all matching with what I'm seeing.  Lets see if it gets there!

Do keep us updated on this!

Thought I'd mention that for online postage at least, Royal Mail is treating CDs/vinyl as tariff free - I imagine eBay/Pitney Bowes aren't up to speed for that yet (the eBay reps were clueless about it when I asked in the weekly chat).

A 'heads-up' on "informational materials".

"Royal Mail is treating CDs/vinyl as tariff free" - I had my first sale to US yesterday, a book sent by Royal Mail through my Royal Mail account which is integrated with eBay.  I was charged a 10% tariff plus the handling charge yet books are tariff free under the "informational materials" exemption.  It would appear that there is a misconnect with data between eBay and Royal Mail.

dave@ebay , kat@ebay marco@ebay :  Can someone please get your technical team to look at this and see what is going on here.  The  order number was:  18-13523-57501
