The number of various posting subjects on this forum have shown a decline this week to date.
Are we losing heart and accepting the situation as it is (BPF, SD etc) ?

I guess so, there's not much more that can be said on the subject at this point and I can't see eBay backing down this fast on it, if they ever do!

Very likely, people are probably realising that you can only bang your head against a brick wall so many times before you actually wise up and ask yourself why bother anymore.

Judging by the significant decrease in the daily number of new listings that are now coming up in some of my searches, perhaps there is less activity because there are less people still here? I get the impression from some of my regular searches that there are a lot fewer private sellers listing stuff.
Although some of my searches are now getting very depleted (and less private sellers; now mostly business sellers listing), there are a couple of searches that I run daily which have not as yet shown much of a decrease.

Yes, there is a feeling of resignation around the place, or maybe it's just exhaustion? eBay certainly doesn't seem the same since the BPF & SD.
Still can't quite believe what has happened, in just a few weeks... 😕

I don't think we're anywhere near that limit yet though 🤣🤣🤣

We might have moved a bit closer to the limit since 11th April, but I think there’s plenty more mileage to go yet 😁

As long as ebays systems are dysfunctional then there’s every reason to post about them
otherwise ebay suggest we just “deal with it” while they get their house in order
simple delivery execution has still at least half a dozen unsolved faults that costs it’s customers time and money and frustrsfuin so about time they get on with it and finish things properly innit
?
having said that errors have been fixed so credit should go if it needs to wherever it needs to when they’ve been done relatively quickly
but the fact remains it has taken long weeks and months
Which I’m sure no one can condone especially when they’re called “glitches”
rather than strategy which eBay have been forced to change it seems
whatever

Think may have just given up selling ( myself included) if you aren't selling there is generally nothing to be interested in!
Ebay for some inexplicable reason seem determined to isolate themselves from private sellers, indeed that can be the only reason for the ironically named 'simple' delivery !
There are after all only so many different ways to express your frustrations on what has in effect been a meddle too far from Ebay !

I think it's the realisation that eBay are not taking any notice of seller's frustrations and upset with the Simple Delivery system, eBay just don't seem to care at all. The stress that Simple Delivery is causing is very upsetting to see on social media where people in groups are tearing their hair out with it all. I've not listed anything for several months now and if Simple Delivery is not abolished completely then I won't be listing anything again, the increase in scams/returns taking place since Simple Delivery and the Buyer Protection Fee was introduced has also put me off of selling, eBay no longer feels safe.

I love the fact ai picks up the general feeling of sellers and summarises some of it based on comments on these boards.
Search "ebay sales falling" etc
It'll get out there and when it hits the share holders only then will they listen

Maybe some of the regular posters have just realised that this is only Ebay and maybe they should get a life.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago where the number of posts about SD etc on weekly chat halved.
Maybe posters fed up with the lack of empathy + copy and paste (pass onto the team) answers
from the chat team.
But in their defence, they probably have their hands tied behind their backs with strick
instructions on what they can and can not say on the boards.

I'm sure that poster who was posting a thread every other day on the subject will be back along soon.
Most seem to have given up on the hatching eggs as well I see.
Or maybe its just the fact the weather the last week has been glorious and it was a bank holiday and half term.

It would seem that the 'Users Online' count supports a dramatic decline of members generally, although things ebay count are at best questionable - Views, Visitors , Watchers -
Kat went on holiday before i could get an answer as to why the View number went down toward the end of auctions.
In the past concerns were raised over immediate Watchers seconds after items going live, that number ceased rapidly once the subject was raised.
Maybe the members who are not sharing their concerns on these boards - that get 1 hour per week ebay attendance - and taken to social media generally to express their issues, sharing the topic with a wider audience, maybe warning potential users prior to leaping in and finding out the hard way of ebays ways.

Do you often see a water💦 in desert 🏜️?? This is same with eBay... Paying prices for bad decisions...but sometimes it can be to late
29-05-2025 8:39 AM
I think the number of posts has also declined because so many regular posters are fed up posting the same things over and over again. Nobody is taking any notice, not eBay, not people with real questions who refuse to read other threads where their issues have been discussed many times, and not the other small group of posters who just post variations of pretty much the same thing on an almost daily basis.
The mega-thread, while it contains a lot of great info (and a lot of utter tripe) is now far too big, and is part of the problem, as much of the good info is lost in there. Nobody is going to trawl through that many posts in the hope of finding something useful (although it is almost certainly there). It should be closed to new posts now. 6,000+ posts is just silly.

'It should be closed to new posts now. 6,000+ posts is just silly'
3000 of which are replies from the op to nearly every post. Enjoying their 15 minutes of popularity?

I wasn't selling last year, although I listed something new most weeks I didn't Sponsor so I only sold 5 items.
I still had some interest in ebay.
Then came the BPF, SD and ebay's money grabbing Payment Holds and especially with SD the realisation that even when it's made to work properly, that will only be the beginning of another progressive squeeze on sellers earnings as ebay increases it's take from every label it forces private sellers to buy.
I'm NOT some SERF from the DARK AGES of MEDIEVAL England and will NOT be TREATED with so little respect by a greedy corporation that thinks it has a mandate from God to rob and pillage like some ancient Lord. Ebay has tried one cash grab too many so will get NOTHING more from me.
While the one Saved Search I used to check listing numbers over the past couple of months shows no real decline in listings, not surprising when many items were listed by private sellers who also didn't Sponsor, so were also hidden but are now given the visibility they should have had. Sales are definitely down, with more No Sales days on ebay.
Another reason the number of posts are down on SC is that some of the more obnoxious 'contributors' who's main reasons for posting were to belittle and annoy by using insulting and facetious language have abandoned their hobby and gone back to the BSB to loudly complain because ebay has announced its latest plans for Promoted Listings. Which will apparently screw them even more than they are already.
My heart bleeds but as I have no further use for ebay or its business sellers, I can think of nothing much that's worth saying any more.
29-05-2025 9:27 AM
I believe many private sellers, like myself, have given-up, taken a break, assessing the situation or however else you wish to describe it. Personally I have come to the boards less and less frequently to see if there are any further developments - which don't seem to be forthcoming any time soon - and rarely post now. At the end of the day how many times can you complain without any genuine or constructive feedback from ebay themselves?
29-05-2025 9:30 AM
There may be several reasons.......the ridiculous number of posts all saying exactly the same thing. The realization that NOBODY at eBay seems to be logging or taking note of comments and complaints, (surely bad business practice). The fact that when someone asks a question that they want an answer to, the comments from certain regulars on here just pursue their personal agenda, and have nothing to do with the actual question being asked. The amount of Trolls on these forums who seem to get some sort of perverted pleasure from making abusive comments on nearly every thread.
