So I have been a seller on and off her since June 2001, Over the years I have sent items recorded delivery that either never turn up , or arrive with no notification of delivery. Now someone wants to charge a buyer a fee for safe delivery, when they would have been charged that in the P&P cost. Frankly it sounds more like a scam than customer service and Ebay are also trying to force us to use their shipping option, So much for free enterprise, sound like trying to get the monopoly on delivery as well. As for hanging on the sellers cash til 2 days after delivery, really so post office goes on strike and you don't get paid, Think I may start looking to leave. So much for eBay's loyalty to us .

Some of you are seriously unhealthily obsessed with Donald Trump, turn off the TV.

What accounts? You are registered as a private seller.

"Yes I have decided to sell elsewhere now" - Why? You are registered as a business seller; Buyer Protection Fees and Simple Delivery do not apply to business sellers.

It's actually 72p (60p + VAT), not 75p, so your calculations will be out by at least 0.3p.

I remember having to make a spreadsheet to do this for seller fees 20 odd years ago when I started on ebay. I used to use it when I was trying to work out whether to sell or give to charity shop 😂 like I've said before... It's just going backwards 20 years.

I agree.
I haven’t sold for a while and yesterday I was completely flummoxed with the postage section. I found it very difficult to navigate if I wished to post with Royal Mail second class. In the end it resulted in making a request to eBay for a telephone call. They did ring me and suddenly I could then reach this task.
What a completely frustrating experience.
Vinted here I come.
PS. Don’t get me started on the buyer protection fee !!!

It's all very confusing. I am selling something and someone has made an offer, however, as eBay now add BPF amount and I have put buyer pays postage I have no idea if the amount being offered includes postage or BPF? EBay also want more for postage than on another item that I have for sale that weighs twice as much and is same size e.g. small parcel.
The lack of clarity and common sense at eBay is staggering, and they simply do not care at all. They are simply greedy and you have to dance to their tune if you want to sell anything as a private member. Confusion reins

If a buyer sends you an offer and you accept, when the buyer pays ebay will take off the BPF from the offer amount and you will get the rest, effectively you will pay the BPF for the buyer.

Ebay claim that the buyer pays it and that you get the amount offered as, I just rang them. It's all very unsatisfactory. Ebay say read the notes, but if you read all the notes that everyone wants you to read it would take several lifetimes. It's eBay's total lack of clarity and greed.
Why on earth they find it impossible to be straightforward I have no idea.

I have taken all best offers off listings and will only send offers now
19-03-2025 9:39 PM
However, if you send an offer how do you know how much you are going to actually get as there seems to be a lot of confusion about who pays for BPF and postage when allowing offers or sending them?

Offers never include postage, that's always been the case, and when a seller sends an offer, that's for the amount they end up with.

Apparently if you send an offer to a buyer, ebay will add the BPF on so the buyer will pay your offer plus BPF. Ebay take the BPF and you get the offer amount you sent to the buyer.

Yes but the amount offered starts for say eg 10£ …
The buyer making the offer doesn’t get told by eBay that your bpf will be deducted from the offer and what the seller gets will be less than the £10 you’re offering
try it and see
theres nothing there
the buyer ends up paying what they offered without having to fork out the bpf on top of their offer
its passed onto the seller
eta
having said that I suppose if the price is 11.58 or whatever that buyer sees which includes the bpf and buyer offers £10 I suppose it does mean that’s all they want to pay
grrr doing my head in
IMO

This is so confusing as eBay say that it's the buyer pays for the BPF?

This is my current understanding:
Buyer sends offer - seller accepts - buyer pays - BPF deducted from buyers offer - seller gets the rest/pays BPF.
Or
Seller sends offer to buyer - buyer sees sellers offer plus BPF - buyer accepts/pays - ebay takes BPF - seller gets original offer amount.
In both cases postage is dealt with separately and added on to the offer amount.

Yes me too am still sending offers since i put a bit back on
