Ebay's new buyer protection scam

So I have been a seller on and off her since June 2001, Over the years I have sent items recorded delivery that either never turn up , or arrive with no notification of delivery.  Now someone wants to charge a buyer a fee for safe delivery, when they would have been charged that in the P&P cost.  Frankly it sounds more like a scam than customer service and Ebay are also trying to force us to use their shipping option, So much for free enterprise, sound like trying to get the monopoly on delivery as well.  As for hanging on the sellers cash til 2 days after delivery, really so post office goes on strike and you don't get paid, Think I may start looking to leave. So much for eBay's loyalty to us .

thats all very well but what you seem to be failing to grasp here is some ebay buyers , like myself are or were completely unaware of this new protection fee . I was lucky enough to be told by one the the sellers whose item sold to me as the highest bidder and was  then transferred by ebay ,after the sale ended ,to another bidder who bid less than me . I therefore received 2x different ebay sold notifications.... one said that I had won the bid and the other said that another bidder had won..  little wonder that I found that confusing.

I received a message from ebay about the upcoming BPF as a seller but not as a buyer, I only found out about it by visiting this forum.

I have got my head round how the BPF works with 'Buy-It-Now's' but still not clear about how it works with auctions.

It seems on account of ebay's greed they've created a very complex and confusing situation for those trying to use ebay now.

I cannot find a means of combining postage, which I often do for smaller items or large letter. If Ebay are going to change courier options retrospectively on listings I see this as a time to bow out. I have tried Vinted and found it dire, lost items, wrong address, generic replies not answering the question, poor description of items, 40 days to refund, saying item lost would be 'returned to seller' the list goes on

You also acknowledge and agree that should the buyer request a return, you may be responsible for refunding the buyer any outbound delivery costs (including for express delivery) for the label provided to you, and that the outbound delivery costs will be deducted from your account to execute the refund. The search is still Key-Word oriented and will search for exactly what a buyer types in the search box.

Please don't be offended if I suggest a buyer is more likely to type "Vintage Ireland Postcards"  and perhaps relegate the numbers and features to the end of the title?  I always ask myself what would I type in the box if I was searching for my item (and have a sneaky look at how other sellers write theirs) 🙂

It's so obvious all these recent changes are due to the greed of ebay's higher ups.

Buyer protection is not buyer protection but a selling fee as buyers will not pay £16.40 or the like for a £15 item, sellers eat the fee.

I would happily take selling fees again over all these bs greedy changes.

The BPF is only the tip of the iceberg of ebay's greedy hands:

• Buyer Protection Fee – a total lie, they are just pocketing the money
• Holding private sellers money - earning interest/investing
• Simple Delivery - once mandatory ebay will make money on every postage label for every item sold
• Hiding listings - ebay are hiding sellers listings so they have to pay to make them visible again
• Disabling the invoice facility - buyers are forced to pay BPF on each item so no combining orders now.
• They make the buyer pay higher postage if a seller only offers one carrier

Had an email today saying simple delivery is compulsory from 15th April. Low value items are said to be exempt but I haven't yet found out how these are defined. The email also suggests I might like to look at the benefits of registering as a business seller, so it becomes even more obvious that eBay wants to get rid of private sellers. I don't understand why they continue to waste money within the "it's free to sell on eBay" when they are doing their best to discourage us from selling on eBay.

Yes I would happily pay sellers fees again - this is so frustrating now. My buyer couldn’t even pay me yesterday and still can’t ! And that’s with Simple Delivery 😡

I got the same email and I’m also looking for this information. It isn’t mentioned on the linked page. Lowest postage cost now is £2.70 and only then if you select both Evri and Royal Mail.

Yes and looks like no large letter option. So having pushed to start auctions at .99p postage will be £2.40 minimum

Although the email issued today claims the mandatory imposition so-called 'Simple delivery' starts on April 15, in actual fact, as per the paragraph towards the end, it takes effect a week earlier:

"Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales."

So those of us thinking we've got two weeks to sell as much as possible have, actually, only got one...

Appears to have started already. Item sold today got qr code to send with evri. A pain, not had good experiences with, I have to drive, but I can walk to yodel and sorting office
