I've just sold an evoucher, and sent the buyer the code in a message. However eBay is charging me for postage, and also it looks like they might not release the funds to me until the item is marked delivered via the post.
It would be good to get the postage cost back too, but most importantly how can I get the funds released to me, now the e-code has been received by the buyer?

You are only allowed to sell physical paper vouchers on eBay which is why you are having so much trouble.

Oh dear, what can I do? I've passed on the evoucher to the customer already. Even if I cancel the sale, they will still have the link.

As per eBay policy digitally delivered goods must be listed in the Everything Else -> Information Products category. Also, eBay are obliged to charge VAT on digitally delivered goods so if you had listed it correctly your buyer would have paid £48.00 for the £50.00 voucher you listed.
You can request a refund for the unused postage label here assuming it was a "Simple Delivery" label. eBay should still release the funds to you at some point.

You won't be able to get a refund for the postage.
The link supplied takes you to a form to complete, but part of that process is you add the tracking for the postage service you did use, so no refund I am afraid.
The issue for sellers who sell digitally delivered items is that buyers can claim they haven't received them and, as you have no evidence to the contrary, they would get a full refund.
Not a good idea and, as you have been informed, not allowed anyway.

Thank you for all replies, I have spoken on the phone with an eBay person and it's resolved. I'd recommend anyone who feels stuck with this kind of thing to use the eBay chat or speak to someone on the phone. They were very helpful.
