Donald Trump and his new tarrifs

I was thinking (probably overthinking) and listening to Donald on tv.....

He is imposing tarrifs on other countries for importing items into the USA.   Some 25% some 10%.   Othose affected are also considering retalitary tarrifs on the USA.

He has also mentioned that tarrifs are very likely against EU countries and has not ruled out applying a tarrif to the UK.

Would any extra tarrif against the UK totally kill of sales to the USA?

Surely this would be yet another massive headache for Ebay Sellers or even maybe Ebay themselves?

This does not sound good at all

It depends what kind of goods the tariffs are being applied to.

US residents still have a tax free allowance. Remember the UK's used to be £15 then they sneakily removed that allowance during Brexit?

Re: Donald Trump and his new tarrifs

The UK imports slightly more from the US than it exports whereas, with the EU, there's a large trade gap in the EU's favour.  This is why he hasn't 'ruled out' UK tariffs.  However, if the tariffs don't apply to the UK, there will be a NI/Republic scenario.  It's going to be boom business for UK forwarding houses.

Also, and probably uppermost in his mind, if he imposes tariffs on the UK it may seriously diminish his chances of riding through the streets in a golden coach, waving at the peasantry, hob-nobbing with the royals and addressing parliament.
