Help please,
You can amend the postage to a different amount and this is what the buyer sees (the postage was by Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed for).
They purchases the item and the item was sent using Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed for.
It appears that the postage cost was changed on the listing to that which I have been charged.
I have just done 2 separate dispatches.
On the first I used ebay's RM 2nd class signed for label (letter size) the label printed for £2.55 but this was amended on the listing to £2.55.
On the second I went to the local post office and they printed the label RM 2nd class signed for label (letter size). They charged me £3.25 (large letter) and now when I check this listing the postage has changed to £3.25.
Therefore it looks as if the postage of the listing is linked to the actual cost to me of posting the item.
Can anyone explain this and if this is the case why does ebay allow you to change the postage rate to anything to like and then change it to the actual amount. I changed postage to £2.99 for each one.
Is there anyway around this apart from adding the postage into the cost and charging No Postage.
(I may get asked for a refund for one of these which is ok as it was my problem).
I just want to cover my postage and packing and not get charged extra.
Thanks,

The listing postage cannot change according to the cost to you of the postage after the buyer purchased the item.
Which items do you think this happened on?

Thanks for the update.
This happened on two lots but I now realise after reading the selling guide that I should use the recommended postal option given by ebay. This is the cost the buyer sees and this is the cost when I print the label. This cost gets added to the invoice. All is good. The postage costs do not change.
I had the problem where I chose another postal method say Tracked 48 Large Letter (cost £2.80) but I amended the postal charge by stating the postage would be to the buyer £3.99. (to cover the packaging etc). The buyer accepted the postage and won the lot.
That's when I ran into problems.
I then used ebay to print the shipping label - Tracked 48 Large Letter the amount is £2.80 and this is the amount which is shown on the invoice (not the £3.99). The £2.80 then appears as the postage in the listing.
I did a test with another lot but this time went to the post office. I did not print the shipping label from ebay but ebay changed the postage on the listing to the amount which the PO charged me. This was £3.25.
Therefore I will not have a problem if I use ebay's recommended shipping method as the postage will not change when I print their shipping label.
So the question is: Why does ebay allow you to amend the postage cost but when you print their label, the label shows the standard shippers cost but it also amends the postage cost of the listing. It is true that ebay cannot print the label with a higher postal cost that what it should be charged by the PO but this is something which is not explained.
I have now revised all my open listings and chose ebay's recommended postal option. This is a bit of a pain as sometimes this is not by Royal Mail but the cost was less expensive so it may help attrach the buyers.
Note: My buyers haven't received their items yet so I will see if they query the postsge charges.
