Two days in a row my postman has failed to pick up parcels. If I wait till the cut off time of 7pm tonight and if still no joy, can I take to a late night parcelshop with same labels?
I've tried to find the answer on numerous sites without success. Anybody know for sure?

was it click and collect - if so you can take to a post office and when they finally come to pick them up you have to advise them of what you have done

And be sure to complain to Royal Mail, the fault is no doubt a failure in management at your local sorting office and not the postman. When I first started collections they were terrible and never turned up but I tried it again last year and use it maybe 4 times a week and they are now impeccable. If they are offering a service the must be able to fulfil and if they cant then dont offer it.

Mine didn't collect (so far) today either. Is there a way of getting a refund if label bought through eBay?

If it's Click & Collect you can often cancel the collection on the website.

you can do yes - but if used ebay postage service you cannot

No, it was directly with eBay. I've always gone to the PO before but now the price difference has forced me to do it this way. However I rebooked the failed collections from Saturday via Click & Collect. The s*d's law is that it's the most small items I've ever had for collection at once - 16!

I won't do it that way again then. Would I be able to get a refund from RM?

I spent over half an hour on hold this afternoon but once she realised what my problem was she deliberately hung up! I will be writing to the sorting office as RM don't give out direct numbers.

Hi, even if you do it through EBay you can definitely take it to the post office and there will be no extra charge or questions asked.
They will simply scan it and give you a receipt.
its happened to me twice this year.

Yeh writing or email is best, they have to deal with it then. Might even be better finding the page on the website.

I often take my RM collections to the post office if my plans change and need to go out. I just advise the postie when comes to collect or get an email to advise if I missed them.

Managed to find the way to cancel all the labels & get them refunded by eBay. That said, I'll have to wait a couple of weeks apparently.

The wait for a refund for cancelled shipping labels is not unusual, it isn't just an Ebay thing. I think it is to make sure the label doesn't get used and appear somewhere.

There's no need to cancel the label if you still intend on sending with RM, just take it to the post office and they'll scan it. No need to cancel collection either, just tell the postie you've taken it to the post office if indeed they do turn up, they can cancel it on thier device.

I know this sounds wierd/pathetic but I don't want the staff at my local PO to know that I'd started buying postage online...I have spent years supporting the same PO by always taking my parcels there & buying the postage in order to keep them in business. So many post offices are being sidelined and conseuentially closing.
I now split my business between online and P.O. as price difference & transit time is significant. I happened to sell a collection at the weekend to different people so my failed collection on Manday was for 15 parcels (nevr normally happns) - I'd have been very embarassed taking them all to my friendly PO. as Tracked 48 so I re-labelled and paid the extra to send 2nd class.
I've written a complaint to my local RM Sorting Office as it always happens when my regular postwoman is off or away. I'm not holding my breath for a reply, but we'll see.
