For some reason, this post was put into eBay.com community rather than eBay.co.uk, hence was invisible to us. Trying to post again here. Hope it is the right site. We are in UK.
We sent the sold item via RM Special Delivery. The tracking shows, RM attempted to deliver the parcel, but there was no answer. The tracking says, it will attempt Re-delivery.
What happens if the buyer is never at home to answer the door and receive the parcel?

You are covered for a not received claim with ebay as long as tracking shows attempted delivery.

This is pretty normal. If the recipient isn't in when redelivery is attempted the next working day a card will be left with details for them to arrange redelivery or collection. As RM's online tracking shows a delivery attempt you are protected should the buyer open an "item not received" claim.

Not so much normal as inevitable as working from home diminishes and most people work full time. Always annoys me when low value items are sent as signed for rather than just tracked. Had a £3 item delivered requiring signature this morning... SD of course I understand the need for, though it still isn't the magic bullet some think it to be.

They'll keep it for longer than other post before returning it, and will make a lot of attempts. My delivery office would send someone around later in the day, even though it's a rare day that we aren't in, though I appreciate not all Delivery offices are always quite as accommodating. Giving the posties a Christmas tip each gives loads of great service around here.
