Buyer has bought same item twice 24 hours apart.

I had a message from them that it's OK to send them in the same parcel if I haven't already dispatched.

I offered free postage on the item. Just wondering if ebay allow the same tracking to be used on 2 separate orders.

Thanks for any feedback.

Not sure the same tracking can be used for multiple parcels, this was eBay's answer when asked.....

Each package requires its own unique label to avoid confusion during transit. Using the same label for multiple packages can lead to mis-delivery, tracking issues, and potential loss of items. Courier services typically rely on unique tracking numbers for each package, so sharing labels undermines this system.

A tracking number can not be reissued for a different shipment. Each shipment must be unique. If the seller somehow applied the same shipping label (and same tracking number) to a second shipment, that would cause confusion in the carrier system.

It's up to you if you wish to send them together,  but you would then only have one tracking number with proof for only one item sent,  leaving the buyer open if they wish,  to claim only one item was received.

If it is to the same address and the same user name all will be ok

Yes the address and ebay user are the same.

Just add the same tracking to the second order when scanned it confirms both

If the items are low value it would not be a problem for me to send out 2 items packaged together that have been purchased on seperate transactions (I use Royal Mail).

but

I noticed some of your items are higher value. I would send higher value items on there own if purchased on seperate transactions to make sure they are covered with the correct insurances & no problem if a claim needs to be made if the item is lost.

Not so sure this applies to 2 items in same package - we do this often using the same tracking number in the same way as combined shipping when shipping is charged - when the shipping is free then combined shipping is not an option but putting the items in one package is with the same label - might be worth including two shipping notes showing both orders -  most complaints we get are when items are sent seperately and one arrives before the other.

Aaah ok  I see then how this can be used in this case,  but surprised that the same tracking number can be entered twice when marking 2 items as dispatched.

Personally , I think someone here has also mentioned, if the items are of value, then I would be inclined to send them separately with two separate tracking numbers.

We do it all the time also, as long as it's to the same username, address and more importantly order number you can use the same tracking number, the time when you can't is if the buyer uses another account with a different username but same address because you won't be able to add the tracking number because it will say its already be used on another order.

The problems start then when the seller doesn't add the tracking to the second order because of this so they  have no way of being able to prove they sent in the items in the same parcel.

At the end of the day it is down to personal choice with free delivery you do not get the objections you would with paid delivery because with paid delivery, customers perceive you are pocketing the postage cost from one of the items and will complain.

With expensive items there is some sense sending them seperately, the same with large items, mind you with expensive items  the best delivery service makes sense .

The OP's buyer purchased their items 24 hours apart so their purchases can't possibly be on the same eBay order. As I understand it you're correct - you can use one tracking number for one order no matter how many items that order contains.

I may stand to be corrected but I don't recall eBay ever allowing the same tracking number to be used for more than one order even if both orders were placed by the same eBay user ID with the same delivery address.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

If you use the same label (print it twice) to post 2 items Separately yes you are correct, but one label two ( print it once) orders i am correct.

For me i do not get insurance i use basic 48 for 99% of my orders they do not cover anything on these. (royal Mail)

If i sell a higher priced item then yes different postal service. But for  op same applies one label one tracking both items can go in one box.

Yep 100% ok,  one of the few perks for the seller is to make a couple of quid on shipping 2 free orders together.
